Take 5 Oil Change Merges into the Fast Lane with Major Growth Plans for 2019
Disruptive, high-margin automotive business announces franchising plans
February 21, 2019 // Franchising.com // CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Take 5 Oil Change (Take 5), admired among drivers for its unique stay-in-your-car oil change and customer-centric approach, announced today a strategic franchise growth initiative to increase its presence across the United States.
The concept’s growth during the past few years has been explosive, and Take 5 will continue to expand across the country in 2019. In the last 18 months, the brand signed multi-unit development deals for an additional 120 locations. In 2019, the one-of-a-kind oil change concept has plans to open 30 franchise stores and anticipates inking multi-unit franchise agreements representing the sale of 140 locations. As Take 5 grows, it is awarding franchise opportunities to qualified multi-unit owners and groups seeking to add a successful segment to their portfolio.
“The momentum behind Take 5 is unmatched. New and repeat customers alike love Take 5, so we’re excited to expand into new markets in 2019.” said Ted Rippey, vice president of franchising for Take 5 and an experienced automotive aftermarket franchise executive. “Our concept is a game changer. There are no other brands in the oil change industry that offer the same level of speed, quality and convenience as Take 5, which has made us the most competitive concept in the space.”
Oil changes drive 85 percent of Take 5 revenues with ancillary services such as air filter and wiper blade changes, and transmission and radiator fluid replacements also available. As a result, there are no high-pressure upselling tactics needed.
Take 5, which is backed by more than 30 years of steady growth and success, is well-positioned for continued expansion. With more than 350 corporate and franchised locations open from Texas eastward to Virginia and north to Ohio, this year Take 5 is targeting major metropolitan markets across the nation including Chicago, Detroit, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, to name a few.
The brand’s exponential growth is demonstrated through the recent acquisition of Super-Lube, a chain of quick lube and automotive service centers with 48 total locations. The acquisition expands Take 5’s footprint to 19 states with more than 350 locations. The acquired quick lube centers will be rebranded over time as Take 5 Oil Change.
Notably, Take 5’s simplified build-out results in a compact, clean and recognizable store design with flexible real estate requirements. And, the streamlined operating model commands staffing that does not necessitate specialized labor. Taken as a whole, the brand has earned a Likelihood to Recommend score of 83 percent and a repeat customer rate of 72.2 percent.
Also appealing to investors and fueling the brand’s growth, Take 5 is part of the Driven Brands family of automotive aftermarket service concepts. Driven Brands is the largest aftermarket franchisor in the world with more than 2,500 locations generating $2.5 billion in annual systemwide sales. Under the Driven Brands umbrella, Take 5 is strategically aligned with industry-leading concepts such as Meineke, Maaco, CARSTAR, 1-800-Radiator and most recently Super-Lube supporting Take 5 franchisees with operations, supply chain, purchasing power, marketing and business finance know-how.
The Take 5 franchise offering includes opportunities for multi-unit investors. Seasoned franchisees appreciate the comprehensive support that Take 5 provides, including real estate, construction, marketing and operations. The ideal franchisee is someone with an entrepreneurial outlook who is well capitalized and has a core competency in managing a team, real estate and experience running a multi-unit business.
