Fleet Feet Announces Opening of Second Location in Kentucky

Former long-time customer and business professional will open store in Lexington this March

March 01, 2019 // Franchising.com // CARRBORO, N.C. - Fleet Feet, the retail leader in inspiring and empowering the runner in everyone, announces today the opening of a store in Lexington, Ky. Amy Varner, a seasoned advertising professional and long-time customer of Fleet Feet, will own the location, which is slated to open its doors on March 1 in The Summit at Fritz Farm at 4084 Finn Way.

"Amy is an incredible addition to our Fleet Feet family. We're excited to have someone who is just as passionate as we are about running and providing runners of all levels with personalized services and solutions," says Robyn Goby, vice president of development for Fleet Feet. "The fact that she was first a long-time customer of our stores in Chicago provides her with a powerful understanding of both the quality and level of service and support our owners strive to deliver every day in their community. Our team looks forward to supporting the efforts of her commitment to the Lexington running community for years to come."

Prior to joining Fleet Feet and moving to Lexington, Varner lived in Chicago where she worked in advertising. An athlete her entire life, Varner's passion for living a well-balanced lifestyle prompted her to make a career change. After researching opportunities that would allow her to combine her interest in running with the freedom of entrepreneurship, Varner sent an inquiry into Fleet Feet's franchising development program in 2017, and thus began the process of opening her own store.

"Being an athlete at heart, I've always felt a desire to make running a part of my everyday life, not just something I could enjoy on my time off," said Varner. "With Fleet Feet, I'm fulfilling my dream of becoming a business owner while sharing my passion for running with those in my community. I'm thrilled for this new chapter in life and can't wait to help grow the sport of running throughout Lexington."

Fleet Feet Lexington offers 1,300 square-feet of retail space. The new location will open with Fleet Feet's exclusive personalized outfitting experience, fit id™, which includes 3D foot scanning. The store will also feature Fleet Feet's exclusive in-house running shoe brand, Karhu, which last year debuted the first running shoe with a last informed by 100,000 3D foot scans, the Ikoni.

The Lexington location opens on the heels of the brand's nationwide launch of its revamped loyalty program, Fleet Feet Rewards Program, and the brand's first-ever app, which incentivizes and rewards customers both on purchases and store engagement.

Amy Varner says the location will employ up to six full and part-time positions. The community can stay up-to-date on upcoming events and plans on the store's Facebook page or online.
