The Dog Stop Unleashes Long Island Expansion Plans
All-inclusive dog care facility franchise signs first area location; Hopes to open as many as 15 total locations in next several years
March 11, 2019 // Franchising.com // PITTSBURGH, Pa. - In the $70 billion pet care industry, dog owners are always looking for new ways to keep their furry friends happy and healthy. With that in mind, The Dog Stop® an all-inclusive and award-winning dog care facility has discovered a niche and is preparing to bring their happy and healthy lifestyle to Long Island.
The Pittsburgh-based franchise - which offers daycare, boarding, grooming, obedience training, in-home services, dog walking, and a retail store – recently inked its first franchisee agreement and while a lease has yet to be signed, the future location will be owned and operated by Keith Gargan. According to co-founders Jesse Coslov and Chris Kane, company plans call for the development of 15 locations throughout Long Island. While no other locations have been signed areas being eyed for expansion include New Hyde Park, Hempstead, Huntington, and Lindenhurst, among others.
“Today, most dog owners view their dogs as part of the family and, as a result, are spending more money than ever on dog-related goods and services,” said Coslov. “As dog owners ourselves, we understand the growing need to keep our dogs healthy, give them lots of love and socialization, and do what's best for them. We’re excited to have finally made our way into Long Island, and can’t wait for The Dog Stop to become a part of the community.”
The Dog Stop’s clean, safe, 100% climate controlled facilities feature premium boarding accommodations, social and interactive daycare experiences, spa-like grooming retreats, in-home services, and a retail store featuring premium dog food, treats, toys and accessories. Other features include separate and secure play areas for dogs of all sizes and energy levels, including outdoor space with special anti-microbial?turf "grass".
Unlike many of its competitors, The Dog Stop charges a flat standard fee, no matter the breed or size of the dogs. However, for those owners who prefer a more tailored experience for their dogs, the “Dog Stop Delights Program” offers extra activities such as cuddle time, one-on-one play, leash walks, training sessions and puzzle time.
“We have design our facilities and train our staff to promote healthy and happy dogs through socialization, physical and mental exercise and a holistic retail approach,” said Kane. “Whether it’s running in our play yards, socializing with friends, or just lounging around, The Dog Stop is your one-stop shop for all of your pup’s wants and needs. The positive response we’ve received in other communities where The Dog Stop exists makes us confident that Long Island will love our brand too. ”
Today, there are 15 locations open and operating in six states, with more than 40 additional stores in various stages of development across the country.
