Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop™ Rolls into North Carolina with New Signed Franchise Agreement

Emerging U.S. Sushi Franchise Collaborates with Local Entrepreneurs to Open Restaurant in Charlotte

March 26, 2019 // Franchising.com // CHARLOTTE, N.C. -Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop™ an emerging eatery in the U.S. specializing in the creation of sushi, sashimi and other Japanese specialties, announced that it has signed a franchise development agreement with husband-and-wife team Rajat and Anu Bedi to open one location in Charlotte. The new Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop is expected to bring up 18 new jobs to the area.

The first Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop, known in Canada as Sushi Shop™ opened in 2000 and has since grown to more than 150 locations throughout our neighbor to the north. In summer 2018, the first U.S. location opened in Florida to rave reviews. When the Bedis open their location, residents of Charlotte will quickly come to crave Ginger Sushi’s excellent traditional sushi rolls, new favorites like poke, and its genre-bending, postmodern approach to the franchise’s other signature items. The Sushi Tacos feature lobster, salmon or tuna in a crispy wonton shell, and the Sushi Burritos take traditional sushi flavor profiles and roll them in rice.

Opening the area’s first Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop is not the first foray into franchising for the Bedis – they recently opened a Which Wich® sandwich franchise in Concord, N.C. and Anu has previous experience managing a Subway®. Rajat currently works in finance at Wells Fargo® Bank, and in her spare time, Anu is an avid Indian food cook.
