Monster Tree Service Names Dane Buell as Chief Operating Officer

Experienced Tree-Care Executive Brings Business Passion, Acumen to Corporate Team

May 22, 2019 // Franchising.com // Fort Washington, Pa. - Monster Tree Service, the nation’s first and fastest-growing tree service franchise, has named Dane Buell its new Chief Operating Officer. This addition will add vast industry experience and uncommon business acumen to the corporate team of the rapidly-expanding company.

Tree care truly is Buell’s lifelong passion. A native of Gilford, Connecticut, Buell got involved in tree care at a young age by dragging brush for a small local company. “I got the bug and am passionate about the tree business,” he recalled. Buell worked his way up to climber to crew leader to business developer to branch manager and finally vice president of a national tree care company, where he also ended up responsible for irrigation and technical services. He is a career-long participant in the tree-care industry who has followed his passion to ever-increasing responsibilities and success, and Buell has embraced the opportunity to help lead one of the fastest-rising brands in the business.

In his new position with Monster Tree Service, Buell’s main goal is to help ensure that Monster Tree franchises share in that growth. “I am excited to work with people who have strong business skills and who see the tree-care business as a great opportunity,” Buell said. “Attracting individual entrepreneurs to the tree-care space is a great thing. I believe I can help Monster Tree’s franchise partners enhance their operations and create even more success for themselves and our brand.”

Josh Skolnick, CEO and Founder of Monster Tree Service, is confident that Buell will be a significant addition to the Monster Tree management team.

“We recruited Dane because we recognized the valuable experience, skills and industry-savvy insight that he could bring to the Monster Tree Service franchise,” Skolnick said. “We look forward to how he will make our company and our franchise partners even better at everything we do.”

Buell said his goals for his new position at Monster include strengthening the corporate organization structure, aiding consensus-building, streamlining decision-making and being an effective practitioner of “servant leadership” in which he elevates the success of franchise partners and of his own corporate teams over his own.

Monster Tree’s new Chief Operating Officer is also a former chairman of the American National Standards A300 Committee for Tree Care, a position in which he improved processes for standards development in the industry, boosted outreach and committee collaboration for end users, and increased understanding and competency within the industry.

Monster Tree Service is the only franchise tree company capitalizing on the under-served $17 billion tree service industry. Monster Tree Service has achieved consistent year-over-year, 5 percent growth since 2009, resulting in a $10+ million business. Because it’s a high-upside opportunity, and a recession-proof business, Monster Tree Service expects to achieve $100 million in sales by 2021.
