Thomas Larson, President of Larson Companies who represents ownership and manages the award-winning restaurant, says “This Award from Wine Spectator two years in a row is a true honor, to be recognized amongst the world’s best wine lists. It is also a great source of pride and culmination of years of planning, patience, research and perseverence in building a wine list unlike any other in the area. Our Johnny’s Team is magnificent and it clearly shows. The heart of everything we do at Johnny’s centers around exceeding highest guest expectations, and we want to also take this opportunity to sincerely thank our patrons and guests for their support.”
Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award - with 2,447; 1,244; and 100 winners this year in each respective category. Eight of the Grand Award winners are first timers.
Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse Eau Claire has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence two-years consecutively, 2018 & 2019. It is the only such restaurant in the geographic area with this distinction.
The Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.
