theCoderSchool to Open First New York City Location

Silicon Valley-based children’s coding franchise is heading to Tribeca

July 17, 2019 // Franchising.com // Palo Alto, CA - theCoderSchool - whose motto is “Learn to code. Change the world.” - is expanding into New York City. The school - which aims to show the next generation of kids how inspiring and exciting technology can be - is set to open its first Tribeca-area location this fall.

The new school is located at 23 Warren Street in the Tribeca Neighborhood of New York City and will be owned and operated by Tammy Nguyen, who plans to open up additional locations in New York over the next several years.

“I am thrilled to be bringing theCoderSchool into the city,” Nguyen said. “My daughters, Chloe and Kelis, are passionate about coding. When I tried to find coding programs for them, I realized that there was a lack of hands-on coding programs in the city that provided personalized and individual training. I felt passionate about bringing a trusted school to the city and know that the family-friendly atmosphere of Tribeca will welcome us with open arms.”

Originally from San Francisco, Nguyen moved to New York City in 2012 with her husband Thang and two daughters. Nguyen wanted to further her children’s coding education after attending a summer coding camp. When Nguyen realized there weren’t any other programs her daughters could attend throughout the year, she learned to code herself in order to continue teaching her daughters.

“I am a strong believer that learning the basic foundation of coding is an asset to every child,” said Nguyen. “I’ve seen the kinds of doors that can open up for students who have those skills and am so excited to be giving back to my community in this way.”

Founded by Hansel Lynn and incubated with the help of his best friend, Wayne Teng, theCoderSchool was built with the desire to provide children aged 7 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, Javascript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.
