Burn Boot Camp Raises $523,690 Through Second Annual National “Be Their Muscle” Fundraiser Event

Burn Boot Camp Partners with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for the Second Year, Topping Last Year’s Donations of $170,000 for a Total of $523,690 to Support Families Living with Muscular Dystrophy and Related Diseases

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (PRWEB) August 27, 2019 - This July, Burn Boot Camp, the nationwide health and fitness franchise, teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for its fourth annual “Be Their Muscle” philanthropic event. The national fundraiser supports the MDA’s mission to transform the lives of kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility. Burn Boot Camps all across the country participated in the event, blowing past the fundraising goal of $500,000 to achieve a total of $523,690 raised to benefit the MDA and their MDA Summer Camps program, which provides a life-changing overnight camp experience to hundreds of children across the country living with neuromuscular disease.

“We are thrilled with the results of this year’s fundraiser and the opportunity for Burn Nation to provide further support to MDA,” said Burn Boot Camp CEO and Co-Founder Devan Kline. “Our nationwide Be Their Muscle event is designed to give children with muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular diseases the opportunity to take part in a physical fitness activity and become a part of our Burn family. Our community has displayed an incredible level of support to those who inspire us to keep moving when they can’t.”

The top 10 Burn Boot Camp locations, in order of amount raised during the event, were Manchester, Missouri; Burlington, North Carolina; O’Fallon, Missouri; Memorial City, Texas; Southpark, North Carolina; Parker, Colorado; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Wexford, Pennsylvania; Crestwood, Kentucky; and Tega Cay, South Carolina.

Teaming up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to support children living with muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular diseases proved to be a natural fit for Burn Boot Camp, whose mission has always been to ignite a global health transformation by empowering individuals to build confidence and happiness that transcends fitness into a community of mentally, emotionally, and physically strong people.

“The $523,690 raised through this event will send even more kids to camp at no cost to their families,” said Kline. “The funds will provide programming options and activities which promote youth development, risk-taking and exposure to new experiences for the hundreds of children who attend MDA Summer Camps across the U.S. every summer.”

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is committed to transforming the lives of people affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases through innovations in science and innovations in care. As the largest source of funding for neuromuscular disease research outside of the federal government, MDA has committed more than $1 billion since its inception to accelerate the discovery of therapies and cures. The research it has supported is directly linked to approved, life-changing therapies across multiple neuromuscular diseases. MDA supports the largest network of multidisciplinary clinics providing best-in-class care at more than 150 of the nation’s top medical institutions. Each year thousands of children and young adults learn vital life skills and gain independence at MDA’s summer camps and recreational programs.

The Klines share a deep passion for philanthropy and are excited to continue building the relationship they have cultivated with MDA.
