CARSTAR TCA - Lauderdale Lakes Provides Lodging And Food For Woman Living In Her Car While The Vehicle Was In For Collision Repairs

August 29, 2019 // Franchising.com // CHARLOTTE - CARSTAR TCA - Lauderdale Lakes, located in Lauderdale Lakes, FL, was handling a typical collision repair when they learned that their customer, who had been living in her car, was sleeping on benches and under bridges while awaiting insurance approval of the repairs.

Greg Felix, owner of CARSTAR TCA - Sunrise in Sunrise, FL, and CARSTAR TCA - Lauderdale Lakes, and his Amber Champion, fleet manager and estimator, went into action. They raised funds with their team members, set up a Go Fund Me page and shared her story on Facebook to generate additional support.

“We decided we wanted to help and asked if anyone could come along side us and offer help also,” said Greg Felix, owner of CARSTAR TCA Broward Collision. “It was amazing that we were able to raise enough money for 12 nights at a hotel for this woman and provide $300 for food. What an incredible example of people loving people.”

Her car was ultimately unable to be repaired, so the CARSTAR team helped her use the insurance proceeds to get another reliable vehicle. They are also helping her with local resources to find housing, food and a job.

Felix, who has been in business in Broward Country for many years as Broward Collision, recently joined CARSTAR, North America’s premier network of independently owned collision repair facilities. He continues his local ownership, but now has the resources of the nationally known CARSTAR brand.
