Blink Fitness Makes Strong Entrance into Virginia Beach

Fast-Growing Fitness Chain Advances Growth with New Gym in the Hampton Roads Area; Two More Locations to Follow

September 19, 2019 // Franchising.com // VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The mood toward fitness in Virginia Beach is about to get a lift.

Blink Fitness (Blink), a premium-quality, affordable fitness brand with its unmistakable Mood Above Muscle® philosophy has other area fitness chains breaking a sweat. On Thursday, September 12, Blink hosted its grand opening celebration of the state’s first location in Virginia Beach from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; at 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. p.m. there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 20,000 square foot gym is situated in the Timberlake Shopping Center on Holland Road across the street from Food Lion. The fast-growing fitness brand now has 90 gyms nationwide with locations coast-to-coast, including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston, and most recently, Virginia.

Former Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL Pro Bowler Mike McCrary was in attendance at the grand opening celebration along with Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer. During the event, Blink provided free food, a live DJ, games and giveaways, including a 50-inch TV raffle prize. New members were able to sign up for just $1 and get their first 30 days free. Following the opening, memberships will start at $15; the Virginia Beach location will also be drawing for free memberships on a monthly basis.

To demonstrate its commitment to the Virginia Beach community, Blink Virginia Beach has linked up with three local non-profit groups to donate more than $15,000 worth of memberships to the organizations. They include the Virginia Beach Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), which recruits, trains and supports volunteers to advocate for child victims of abuse and neglect; the Virginia Beach Mustangs Association which is a nonprofit youth football organization; and the U.S. Navy’s Expeditionary Strike Group 2 (ESG2).

“We are excited to start transforming the affordable fitness landscape in the Hampton Roads area, just like the brand has done in so many other markets throughout the country. The days of compromising on the quality of your fitness experience, just to get a low price, are about to come to an end in Virginia Beach,” said Carlos Gavidia, who co-owns the new gym with his wife, Laura Gavidia, and plans to open two additional gyms in the Virginia Beach area along with seven in the Jacksonville, Florida market. “Blink is the real deal, offering a high-quality experience at a very accessible price. I am 100% confident that our groundbreaking Feel Good Experience® and body-positive philosophy will resonate throughout the region. Our Virginia Beach location will be a healthy neighborhood hub for those in the community with its dedicated and professionally trained staff, uplifting colors, sleek design and clean facility.”

Blink is a firm believer that exercise isn’t just about looking good, it’s also about how it makes you feel. In its commitment to putting Mood Above Muscle®, Blink gyms are brightly lit and feature colors that are scientifically proven to lift moods. Gym-goers are greeted and encouraged by specially trained employees, called Mood Lifters®.

Blink Virginia Beach features state-of-the-art equipment for every fitness level, including cardio machines, strength equipment, dumbbells and designated areas for stretching, HIIT, body weight training and more. Certified personal trainers are available for members looking for one-on-one fitness coaching, and every membership comes with a free personal training start up session. On an ongoing basis, personal training sessions start as low as $30.

The gym recently launched a mobile app that empowers and enables members to exercise anytime, anywhere by providing hundreds of workout videos, including HIIT, strength, yoga, stretching, Pilates, spinning and treadmill classes, as well as guided meditations. Plus, the app offers nutrition advice and recipes.
