Local Restaurateur with More Than 30 Years Restaurant Industry Experience Opens Third Firehouse Subs Restaurant in Savannah

October 11, 2019 // Franchising.com // SAVANNAH, Ga. - Firehouse Subs announces the grand opening of its third restaurant in Savannah, Georgia, at 4333 Ogeechee Road, #200. The restaurant will open its doors to the public on Friday, October 11, under the ownership of Firehouse Subs Franchisee Chad Weaver.

Firehouse Subs serves a variety of hot specialty subs, piled high with premium meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh daily in-restaurant and steamed together to bring out the ingredients’ natural flavors, served “Fully Involved®” with fresh produce and condiments. In addition to its signature subs, the restaurant offers a variety of catering options from sandwich and dessert platters to salads and snacks to fuel any occasion.

This will be Weaver’s fifth Firehouse Subs restaurant and third in Savannah. He opened his first Firehouse Subs restaurant in Savannah back in 2008 and now owns restaurants in Pooler and Richmond Hill as well. Weaver has worked in the restaurant industry for more than 30 years, working his way up from training manager to franchisee. He was drawn to the brand because of its strong values of serving the community through hearty, flavorful food and a commitment to public safety.

“I’ve been with Firehouse Subs for more than 15 years now, and I could not be prouder to be part of a company that values heartfelt customer service, outstanding food and an emphasis on giving back to the community,” Weave said. “Thanks to the generosity of the Savannah community, my restaurants have been able to support several lifesaving equipment donations to first responders through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. It’s amazing to know you’re helping make a difference in your community.”

Weaver feels a deep connection with the brand’s commitment to giving back through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The Foundation has granted more than $2.8 million in Georgia, including more than $330,000 granted in the Savannah area. Weaver also makes it a priority to assist with hurricane relief efforts in the Southeast, helping feed first responders and hurricane victims when the need arises. A portion of every sale at any Firehouse Subs in the U.S. benefits the Foundation, allowing the Foundation to achieve its mission of providing lifesaving equipment, funding and education to first responders and public safety organizations across the country.

The Savannah Firehouse Subs restaurant is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. It will offer third-party delivery and in-house catering services to accommodate occasions of all sizes, from office meetings to family gatherings.

Founded by former firefighting brothers, the restaurant décor reflects the founding family’s decades of fire and police service with gear and photos donated by the local fire department. It includes a custom, hand-painted mural by Chief Mural Artist Joe Puskas, featuring the scenic marsh views of the area with a Savannah Fire Department rescue boat on the river surrounded by Spanish moss. It also pays tribute to Savannah’s rich history with a British soldier and Ogeechee Indians in the forefront. Since the opening of the first Firehouse Subs in 1994, Puskas and his team have painted more than 1,175 murals from his studio at Firehouse Subs Headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla.

In 2005, the Firehouse Subs founders established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations. The 501(c)(3) Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $46 million to hometown heroes in 49 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. Each restaurant recycles five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $3 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters explain the nonprofit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
