TGA Celebrates the Best Youth Sports Franchises

TGA Franchises from California, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington win awards

January 13, 2020 // Franchising.com // Los Angeles, CA – TGA Premier Sports (Teach Grow Achieve) is proud to announce the 2019 award winners for the best in youth sports franchises. Peer recognition at the annual summit in Palm Springs, CA, December 15-18, culminated an enormously successful year for TGA franchises across the country. Owners were honored for their hard work and dedication to youth sports and families in communities big and small.

TGA is a leading franchise company specializing in introductory youth sports programs, merging academics with athletics. The annual summit provides TGA franchise owners from around the country opportunities to collaborate on youth sports, community partnerships, and business development. Owners use the occasion to share their successes and continue the TGA mission of Changing Lives through Sports.

Spotlighting the mission of TGA is the Lee Warner Award, presented to an owner for embracing the brand, collaborating with and supporting peers, delivering exceptional standards in the work they deliver, and providing innovations to improve programs. This year’s winner was Sean Rivera from southern Westchester County in New York. Rivera has been impacting children through sports for five years and is a former Wall Street investor and trader.

James Casteel from South Tarrant County, Texas was presented with two awards for his business’s revenue growth in 2019, the Michael Jacobs Award and Steve Tanner Award -- for the franchise territory with the highest percentage revenue increase from the previous year to the current year. Casteel first began working with TGA in 2013 and expanded his geographical area with additional franchises in 2019.

The Joe Hollday Award, presented to Peter Dunlap, Plymouth County, MA acknowledged the franchise with the most revenue increase during a 12-month period for enrichment programs. The former telecommunications executive launched his tennis franchise in 2014 and most recently added team sports to his business.

The 2019 Rookie of the Year Award was bestowed upon Kristen Hatfield, for her successful new franchise in Ventura County, California. Hatfield’s enthusiasm for introducing golf, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball to kids has reached thousands of youngsters in her community her first year. Hatfield is also the first TGA chapter to offer a beach volleyball curriculum.

Michele Psilos from the Southwest Pittsburgh, PA chapter earned the Story of the Year Award. Psilos shared her student’s amazing success story from her golf camp to the Drive Chip and Putt national competition held at Augusta National Golf Club in Atlanta, GA.

The USTA (United States Tennis Association) Mid-Atlantic Section earned the Hope Warner Award, presented to the owner who had the most impact on the local community through programs and participation. The USTA, working in conjunction with the TGA since 2013, is on goal to reach 12,500 students by 2022. New school districts that host introductory tennis camps are added on a continuous basis leading the industry in creating new players.

TGA congratulates all of the 2019 award winners. The success of TGA owners will make it possible for a major milestone in 2020 as the company is on pace to register the program’s ONE-MILLIONTH student.
