Former NYPD Detectives set to open Mediterranean-inspired, build-your-own plate concept in Florida

January 15, 2020 // Franchising.com // Coral Springs, FL. - Gyroville is getting ready to open its newest franchise location next month in Coral Springs, Florida. The restaurant owners are both retired NYPD Detectives, which makes for an interesting transition for the couple to their new career as restauranteurs.

Gyroville, a popular Southeast Florida build-your-own Mediterranean fast-casual franchise has experienced a recent surge from candidates looking to leave their current career to embark on a new adventure in the restaurant business.

“We chose Gyroville because we loved the idea of building our own, unique dish coupled with the emphasis on the healthy, Mediterranean style diet. With everything prepared fresh daily and the uniqueness of the flavored tzatzikis, we knew we made the right choice with the Gyroville brand,” said Irving Rodriguez, franchisee for the Coral Springs, Florida location.

“We are excited that Irving and Maria have put their trust in our brand as they embark on their second career as Gyroville franchisees,” said Lambros Kokkinelis, founder and CEO of Gyroville. “As retired members of the NYPD, Irving and Maria will bring their years of discipline, dedication and commitment to their new business in their own community.”

The restaurant is located at 1750 North University Drive in Coral Springs, Florida. The grand opening is scheduled for early February 2020.

Gyroville seeks multi-unit operators and owner-operators to bring the brand to new markets, targeting the Southeastern part of the country, as well as the Midwest and Texas. The company expects to open another 3-4 locations in 2020, along with adding five more signed franchise agreements during the next twelve months to continue steady growth throughout the United States.

“We are really excited to open this new location as it will feature a completely new look for our brand. Our design team has worked very hard in selecting the right finishes for Gyroville. Irving and Maria are equally excited to open this location and look forward to serving the community of Coral Springs,” said Lambros Kokkinelis.
