First Responder Family Opens First Firehouse Subs Restaurant in Monroe

March 09, 2020 // // MONROE, Mich. - Firehouse Subs announces the grand opening of its first location in Monroe, Michigan, at 2338 N. Telegraph Rd. The restaurant will open its doors to the public on Monday, March 9, under the ownership of first-time Firehouse Subs Franchisees Stacey and Jon Pieron.

This is the first Firehouse Subs restaurant for the Pierons and the 23rd restaurant in Michigan. Jon Pieron is a police officer for the City of Toledo and has served the community for nearly two decades. He is also a member of the 180th Fighter Wing in the Ohio Air National Guard with more than 23 years of service. His wife, Stacey Pieron, has a degree in Mass Communications and has worked as a registered veterinary technician since 2006. The two are excited to take on a new venture together that will allow them to follow their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs.

“As a police officer, I find joy in serving my community and helping others,” Jon Pieron said. “I fell in love with the brand the first time I tried the steamy, flavorful Italian Sub. Once I learned how Firehouse Subs gives back on a daily basis through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, I knew this was the perfect move for my family.”

“We’re thrilled to start this new chapter as a family,” Stacey Pieron said. “I love what the brand stands for: serving the community through heartfelt customer service while making a positive impact through the Foundation. We look forward to embracing that every day.”

The Pierons are dedicated to sharing the brand’s commitment to giving back through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which has granted more than $1.1 million in Michigan. A portion of every sale at any Firehouse Subs in the U.S. benefits the Foundation, allowing the Foundation to achieve its mission of providing lifesaving equipment, funding and education to first responders and public safety organizations across the country.

The Monroe Firehouse Subs restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. It will offer third-party delivery and in-house catering services to accommodate occasions of all sizes, from office meetings to family gatherings.

Firehouse Subs serves a variety of hot specialty subs, piled high with premium meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh daily in-restaurant and steamed together to bring out the ingredients’ natural flavors, served “Fully Involved®” with fresh produce and condiments. In addition to its signature subs, the restaurant offers a variety of catering options from sandwich and dessert platters to salads and snacks to fuel any occasion.

Founded by former firefighting brothers, the Monroe restaurant décor reflects the founding family’s decades of fire and police service with gear and photos donated by the local fire department. It boasts a custom, hand-painted mural by Chief Mural Artist Joe Puskas, depicting a scenic view of Lake Erie with local heroes from the City of Monroe Fire Department, along with the Pierons’ two children playing with a beach ball and their family dog, Mollie. Famed U.S. Military Officer General Armstrong Custer is also featured in the mural as a nod to his Monroe heritage. Since the opening of the first Firehouse Subs in 1994, Puskas and his team have painted more than 1,185 murals from his studio at Firehouse Subs Headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla.

In 2005, the Firehouse Subs founders established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations. The 501(c)(3) Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $48 million to hometown heroes in 49 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. Each restaurant recycles five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $3 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters explain the nonprofit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
