The Party Must Go On: AKT Will Continue To Expand Their Denver Footprint This Summer

Famed dance-cardio fitness studio dances into the RiNo neighborhood with their opening plans

May 15, 2020 // Franchising.com // DENVER - AKT, the revolutionary dance-cardio fitness concept, will open their second Denver location in mid-June. The new studio located at 2813 Blake Street will give the RiNo community something to sing and dance about – as the community-driven workout will give patrons a full body workout from a combination of cardio-dance intervals with strength and toning.

The fitness program was created by celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser, who is fueled by positivity and who’s core mission is to challenge everyone around her to move with purpose. Thus, AKT (Anna Kaiser Technique) became a marriage of dance and functional training - spreading the ethos of achieving the best results from a workout program that can actually be a fun dance party.

The workout quickly soared to popularity because of its effective technique advertised by celebrities like Kelly Ripa, Alicia Keys, Drew Barrymore and most recently Shakira, who gave much credit to Kaiser for getting her body into gear for the recent Super Bowl halftime show.

A typical AKT class features curated playlists of high-energy music coupled with upbeat routines and has four class types: DANCE, BANDS, TONE and CIRCUIT. Each modality is kept fresh and entertaining largely in part to the choreography change up every three weeks. The workout applies to all body types and fitness levels since it incorporates a full spectrum of fitness elements of dance, strength training and plyometrics. Each 45-60minutes class gives a full-body workout designed to burn calories, strengthen and tone in an atmosphere that's motivating and results-driven. Amid the coronavirus, AKT has pivoted their business model to incorporate on-demand video workouts and live streaming of classes led by various instructors and Anna herself.

The 2,009 square foot studio will be housed at LOT Twenty-Eight, an adaptive reuse project at the intersection of 28th and Blake Street in RiNo. The raw space build-out will foster a collaborative environment and a culture that combines the personalization of private training with the community and electric experience that a boutique studio offers.

The first AKT location in Cherry Creek and has been closed since mid-March, but plans to reopen on May 15th with a pared down schedule - only allowing four people in each class to maintain social distancing, while following all state and city guidelines from the CDC for every client's health & safety. Even after their reopening, the virtual classes will remain an option for those who are enjoying workout sessions from home. The RiNo studio will temporarily be used for virtual classes so patrons can get a sneak peek of the space until doors open.

Both studios are owned and operated by local entrepreneurs Shannon and Bruce Jaeger. “We’re not going to open the doors to our new studio in RiNo just because the state says we can. We want to be mindful during this time and we’re happy to be creating jobs and satisfy people’s craving for community right now,” says Shannon Jaeger. “It’s just going to be a process of easing back into reality. We look forward to the day when we can have full-capacity classes, but right now we want people to trust that we’re taking care of them by delivering the same energy and workout in the most delicate way possible.”

The RiNo studio is currently offering Founding memberships at $99 for first month, $175 (a 20% discount) for lifetime memberships for a limited time. Payments will not be due until the opening day.

AKT currently has studios in New York, New Jersey, The Hamptons, Orange County, Detroit, Denver, Ohio, and opening in LA, Miami, Dallas, Charlottesville, VA, Arizona, Atlanta and Seattle and many more later this year.
