TeamLogic IT in Columbus Gives Laptops to Students in Need

June 19, 2020 // Franchising.com // COLUMBUS, OH - TeamLogic IT, in Columbus, Ohio, is changing lives for students in need through their “Students Need TLC” (TeamLogic IT Laptop Campaign) program. As the COVID-19 pandemic set in and schools around the world shut down, TeamLogic IT got to work. Office owners Dwight and Allison Blankenship were aware that local schools would be using Chromebooks for distance learning but didn’t think that there was enough for every student.

“We knew that there would be students in need and wanted to see how we could make a difference and help during this critical time,” said Allison. “I thought, ‘we have some laptops at home, and some at the office. I wonder how many other people would be willing to contribute?’”

Allison and Dwight started to reach out to the local community for assistance and received a great response.

“It’s been a team effort,” said Dwight. “Some of our office colleagues have reached out to local organizations in the area; some have gone and picked up devices; and one of our office techs has refurbished each device. It’s been a rallying point for our team. It’s given us a real purpose during this time.”

When the office receives a device, the hard drive is wiped clean and the Google Chrome system is installed. If a laptop is broken, they augment what is needed whether that is a power cord or a new hard drive.

“We have given out at least a dozen devices and have more in the pipeline,” said Dwight. “The campaign is starting to go viral, and we are hearing from people outside of the group who received our initial letter.”

The devices are given to the wife of a colleague at the TeamLogic IT office in Columbus, who is a teacher at the local elementary school, West Broad Elementary, on the westside of Columbus. “Since receiving their laptop, these students have caught-up on all of their assignments and participated in online classes,” said sponsoring teacher Myra Cintula.

“The students and their families that have received these laptops have expressed such gratitude and are blown away by the gesture. We hope to continue the “Students Need TLC” program into the foreseeable future and address other communities in need,” said Dwight.
