Robotic Lawn Mowing Arrives in Orlando

High-tech Mowbot franchise brings future of lawn maintenance to Central Florida

June 22, 2020 // Franchising.com // ORLANDO, Fla. - Mowbot, the nation’s premier robotic lawnmowing service, is opening a new location this June, Mowbot of Orlando. Local business owner Tony Smith is partnering with Mowbot, a new, cutting-edge national franchise, and Husqvarna, the world’s leader in outdoor power products, to bring robotic lawnmowers to lawn-loving businesses and homeowners in central Florida.

The small bot, which operates with GPS technology and artificial intelligence, lives in homeowners’ yards and runs completely on battery power. The high-tech lawn service is disrupting the dirty $99.5 billion lawn care business with its clean, green, and quiet solution to lawn mowing. It’s the perfect way for homeowners, campuses, recreational spaces, property management groups and homeowners’ associations to save time and the environment in caring for Florida’s fast-growing warm-weather grasses.

COVID-Inspired Lifestyle Change

When Smith left his career as VP of Strategy for a major education company, he decided to put his expertise and his MBA to work for himself and his community by buying a Mowbot franchise and becoming his own boss.

“I knew I wanted to be associated with a product or service that will help people,” said Tony Smith. “Mowbot has the ability to save people time, it is environmentally conservative, and the technology is pretty cool. The robotic mower meets the needs of a lot of people, and I believe it’s the future.”

As a high-tech lawn care service, Smith believes offering Mowbot services will be especially well-received by the millennial generation and Gen Z , who are very accustomed to subscription services, don’t want to tie up their time doing something they don’t enjoy, and are more environmentally conscious. During the uncertainty surrounding COVID and the transmission of the virus, Mowbot eliminates reliance on traditional lawn crews who move from yard to yard, and offers inherent social distancing.

North Carolina-based businessmen Tony Hopp and Jeff Dudan founded Mowbot because they see the robot revolution that is coming. Also, the opportunity to be a major disrupter in the outdated and dirty lawn care industry that will benefit from a high-tech, environmentally friendly alternative.

“We are excited to welcome Tony to the Mowbot family,” said Tony Hopp, Mowbot CEO. “Orlando is an area with year-round mowing, and he will find unlimited growth potential there. We believe Mowbot of Orlando will provide a great alternative for homeowners that are having challenges with their landscaping company or are just ready to embrace the future of lawn care.”

Mowbot of Orlando serves Seminole County, parts of Orange County and downtown Orlando.
