Local Husband and Wife Duo Open First Firehouse Subs Restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens
July 02, 2020 // Franchising.com // PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Firehouse Subs announces the grand opening of its first location in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, at 4650 Donald Ross Road, Unit 116. The restaurant will open its doors to the public on Friday, June 26, under the ownership of first-time Firehouse Subs Franchisees Andre and Marcela Lacerda, Nivaldo Lacerda, Brian Christie, Marcelo Tanaka and Edilson Silva.
This is the Lacerdas’ first venture into the restaurant industry. Marcela Lacerda ran her own hair salon for decades, and Andre Lacerda worked in the software and construction industries. The two discovered Firehouse Subs about four years ago when they were in Orlando and fell in love with the food at first bite. In 2018, the husband and wife duo reached out to family and friends to find the perfect partners for this franchising opportunity.
“When we learned how the brand gives back to help first responders keep communities safe, we knew Firehouse Subs was the right choice for us,” Andre Lacerda said. “I come from a family filled with military members, police officers and firefighters, and Marcela’s uncle is a paramedic. We grew up in a culture of serving the community, and we’re excited to continue that through our restaurant.”
The restaurant features online ordering through the Firehouse Subs app or website, call-in phone orders or takeout service at the counter inside, as well as third-party delivery. Following state and local regulations, the dining room will be open at 50% capacity, and outdoor patio seating will be available as well.
These business partners are dedicated to sharing the brand’s commitment to giving back through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which has granted more than $8.1 million in Florida. Since March 18, Firehouse Subs restaurants, community supporters and the Foundation have donated more than 85,000 meals to local first responders, healthcare workers and people in need. A portion of every purchase at any Firehouse Subs in the U.S. benefits the Foundation, helping achieve its mission of providing lifesaving equipment, funding and education to first responders and public safety organizations across the country.
The Palm Beach Gardens Firehouse Subs restaurant is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. It will offer in-house catering services to accommodate occasions of all sizes, from office meetings to family gatherings.
Firehouse Subs serves a variety of hot specialty subs, piled high with premium meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh daily in-restaurant and steamed together to bring out the ingredients’ natural flavors, served “Fully Involved®” with fresh produce and condiments. In addition to its signature subs, the restaurant offers a variety of catering options from sandwich and dessert platters to salads and snacks to fuel any occasion.
Founded by former firefighting brothers, the Palm Beach Gardens restaurant décor reflects the founding family’s decades of fire and police service with gear and photos donated by the local fire department. It features a custom, hand-painted mural by Chief Mural Artist Joe Puskas, depicting a local hero from the Palm Beach Gardens Fire Department golfing on the PGA National Resort, which hosts the Honda Classic on its Champion course each year. Since the opening of the first Firehouse Subs in 1994, Puskas and his team have painted more than 1,170 murals from his studio at Firehouse Subs Headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla.
In 2005, the Firehouse Subs founders established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations. The 501(c)(3) Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $51 million to hometown heroes in 49 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. Each restaurant recycles five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $3 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters explain the nonprofit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
