“Scenthound Salutes” Offers Free Grooming to Dogs Adopted Amid Pandemic
Local brand to give away free grooming to educate new pet parents on dog health and care
July 08, 2020 // Franchising.com // JUPITER, FL - Despite all of the unfortunate news regarding COVID-19, some positive headlines managed to sweep the nation as animal shelters across the country were cleared out during the pandemic. With more time than ever at home, many Americans became new pet parents and Scenthound, a Jupiter-based grooming concept with 4 locations across Palm Beach County, is looking to reward and teach them how to take care of their new family member.
Scenthound’s mission is to educate dog parents so that they understand the importance of routine care and grooming in order to keep their new pet healthy and feeling good. With all of the new dog owners, the brand’s “Scenthound Salutes” campaign invites them in for a free service to educate them on how preventive care will help their dogs. Anyone who adopted or purchased a dog in March, April, or May can bring their dog in for a free Escentials™ package on Wednesdays in July (by appointment), which includes a conditioning bath, ear cleaning, nail clip, and teeth brushing.
“There are a lot of misconceptions about certain breeds not needing grooming,” said CEO Tim Vogel. “If you’re a new dog parent, you might not realize that all dogs need routine care - you may have a dog that doesn’t need a haircut, but still needs bathing, nail trimming and ear cleaning. We started Scenthound as a way to offer grooming services that cater to all breeds, and we want to educate as many humans as possible so that they make sure their dog gets the care they need.”
The brand, which remained open during the pandemic as an essential business, has taken initiatives to keep the Palm Beach County dog community safe. As always, dogs at Scenthound do not come in contact with one another, and all locations have a limit of one human guest in the lobby at a time.
The “Scenthound Salutes” campaign has given back to other important members of the community throughout the years, offering free grooming to dogs of fire fighters, educators, foster dog families, and more. Scenthound gives back in other ways, most notably its “Clean Start” program - started in partnership with the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, and since expanded to many more local rescue organizations. In the last 10 years, Scenthound has given away over 2,900 free groomings, valued at over $100,000.
“Engaging with the community has allowed us to share with people how simple, yet important it is to keep their dogs healthy,” added Vogel. “Our doors are always open to anyone with questions about taking care of their dog, new or old.”
Scenthound was founded in 2015 after CEO Tim Vogel spent more than 10 years running both a mobile grooming business and local grooming “Scenters”, and seeing first-hand the shortcomings within a booming pet industry and the lack of education surrounding dog grooming. Vogel began a mission to give dogs and their owners a fast, easy, and affordable grooming solution with Scenters that provide a haircut, but more importantly, focus on a dog’s health.
Embedded in the name, Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of maintenance: Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails and Teeth. Their Scent Techs are fully trained to give each dog the care it requires - regardless of breed - and the membership program allows for dog parents to have the peace of mind that their fur family is cared for on a routine basis.
Founded in Jupiter, the brand is on a Southeastern expansion plan, with 21 new units currently in development across Florida, Georgia and Nevada. Scenthound is excited to bring their values to new communities and is actively seeking single and multi-unit franchise partners who are passionate about dogs and are looking to be hands-on with the business. New units in Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens, Miami, Atlanta and Las Vegas are expected to open this year.
Founded in 2015 and franchising since 2019, Scenthound is a wellness-focused, membership-based dog grooming business that is focused on preventive care for dogs. Focusing on Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails and Teeth, Scenthound sets themselves apart by giving dogs the quality care they need. Today, there are now four locations open and operating in South Florida and 21 units in various stages of development.
