Fleet Feet Celebrates Opening of Third Location in Charlotte Metro Area
Locally owned-and-operated running retailer to open at Waverly this November
October 21, 2020 // Franchising.com // CARRBORO, N.C. - Fleet Feet announced today its plans to expand in North Carolina with the debut of its newest location in the Charlotte metro area. Erik Adams, an Army veteran and current operator of the Fort Mill, S.C. location, will manage operations for the 1,498 square foot store, which is slated to open in mid-November. The new Charlotte store will be located at 7211 Waverly Walk Avenue at Waverly, a mixed-use development designed to bring people together with a variety of retail, restaurants and residential living.
“Our team couldn’t be more thrilled to be opening our 15th store in North Carolina. Despite the challenges of this year, we continue to grow thanks to the support of the running community and the unmatched dedication of our owners, operators, and staff across the country,” says Robyn Goby, vice president of development for Fleet Feet. “We’re excited to have Erik manage operations for the location. He has an undeniable passion for helping people, leading a team with professionalism and energy, and making a difference. We know he’s going to create something truly special for the South Charlotte running community.”
Prior to joining Fleet Feet Augusta, Adams served in the Army as a medic. During his service, he completed two tours in Iraq and oversaw operations at a community clinic in South Korea. Adams went on to become the operations manager at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center and while still enlisted, worked part-time at Fleet Feet to pursue his passion for running. Upon leaving the military, Adams joined Fleet Feet’s Leadership Development Program, which helps equip qualified candidates to become store operators. He became the operating partner for the Fort Mill, S.C. store in February.
Fleet Feet will open with the brand’s exclusive personalized outfitting experience, fit id®, which includes 3D foot scanning and dynamic pressure mapping. The pressure mapping software was launched last month and allows outfitters to measure the unique foot path and weight distribution of each foot as an individual walks across a three-and-a-half-foot long force plate. These measurements give Fleet Feet the ability to offer individualized footwear solutions through Superfeet’s ME3D line of personalized insoles.
