Gyro Shack Places on QSR Magazine’s “40/40” List

Mediterranean Concept Recognized as One of the Country’s Hottest Fast Casual Startups

February 03, 2021 // Franchising.com // BOISE, Idaho - Gyro Shack was named to QSR Magazine’s annual “40/40” List in 2021.

The 40/40 List recognizes 40 emerging limited-service restaurant brands that have fewer than 40 locations. Factors such as brand performance, menu innovation, uniqueness of model and buzz-worthiness are considered when selecting those for recognition.

“This recognition is an honor for us and a true testament to all the milestones we’ve been able to accomplish so far,” said Seth Brink, president of Gyro Shack. “We’re gearing up for an exciting year in 2021 full of opportunity for growth to bring our delicious Mediterranean flavors across the country.”

The placement of Gyro Shack in the list showcases the brand’s ability to offer customers global cuisine in a convenient drive-thru format. Gyro Shack has nine locations open throughout Idaho.

"Global flavors are increasing in popularity as Americans seek new food adventures, and that’s especially true today as consumers are largely unable to physically travel to new food destinations," says Sam Oches, editorial director of Food News Media, publisher of QSR. "Gyro Shack is the kind of brand that’s introducing people to delicious, authentic flavors from another part of the globe, but doing so in a familiar format: drive-thrus. With this emphasis on bold flavors and off-premises operations, Gyro Shack was an easy pick for our 40/40 List."

The attractiveness of the franchise model is only enhanced with its flexible design and small footprint. The drive-thru and delivery option make up 76 percent of existing store revenues, keeping overhead low with just a small portion of the restaurant reserved for dine-in. Locations can range from less than 500 square feet up to 1,800 square feet.
