The fast-casual brand has announced the growth ambitions following the launch of its first two restaurants in Ottawa and Surrey, British Columbia, last year.

Plans are now underway to open three more restaurants in Canada during 2021, with a flagship site in Downtown Toronto scheduled to open in May.

German Doner Kebab is revolutionising the kebab across the globe, bringing a fresh, high-quality taste sensation that has made it the number one spot to enjoy a kebab.

Freshly prepared in front of customers, the game-changing kebabs are made using premium, lean, succulent meats and fresh local vegetables, served in handmade toasted breads with unique signature sauces.

The brand has 73 restaurants across the globe and is embarking on growth across the UK, Sweden, North America and the Middle East, with over 700 franchises already signed-up to its global growth strategy.

In North America, the development pipeline includes along with Canada, key locations in the USA spanning Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, New Jersey, and Houston.

German Doner Kebab Managing Director for North America, Nigel Belton, said: “German Doner Kebab is a truly disruptive brand that has revolutionised the kebab industry.

“The landmark openings of our restaurants in Ottawa and Surrey have met our expectations, demonstrating the demand for our fast-casual offering that is bringing consumers a great product and amazing value.

“We now have big plans for Canada and are excited about embarking on our next phase of growth in 2021 and opening what will be a flagship site in Downtown Toronto.”

The growth plans in North America have also been boosted by the appointment of Michael Bruno as its new Franchise Recruitment Director.

The Food and Beverage industry veteran joined from Focus Brands with over 25 years’ experience in the sector and has been charged with spearheading growth and development in the region.

He added: “Michael Bruno has been a great capture for us and his experience will be invaluable to us as we develop our footprint and bring the German Doner Kebab experience to even more consumers across the region."

“German Doner Kebab is a huge opportunity, it’s a proven global hit and brings a fast-casual dining experience that is resonating with the Millennial and Gen Z audience."

“Our proposition is also backed by an experienced global team that support our franchise partners with operations, supply-chain, marketing, site development and finance.”

Based in Glasgow, Scotland, the brand has grown at great pace in the UK, Sweden and Middle East and now rapidly expanding in the USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia and across other key locations in Europe.

The fast-casual brand recently announced that it will open 47 new restaurants in the UK during 2021.
