Signed Franchise Agreement to “Bring Pretzels to the People” with Second Location Planned for RiverTown Crossings

July 07, 2021 // Franchising.com // GRANDVILLE, Mich. - Wetzel’s Pretzels (Wetzel’s), the fun-loving brand putting a tasty twist on snacking, announced today it has recently signed a franchise agreement to roll out handheld happiness in Grandville. The new bakery is scheduled to open in August at RiverTown Crossings. It will be the second Wetzel’s location within the shopping center.

Radiating its signature Southern California vibe, Wetzel’s was founded in Redondo Beach, California 25 years ago and has grown to command a cult-like following in the communities it serves. The brand inspires a fanatical following with its colorful presence, “gram-worthy” snacks and the small moments of pure pretzel bliss that it produces with friends, family and colleagues.

“I’ve always been a fan of Wetzel’s, and after learning how straightforward the business model is and working with the fantastic team, it was a no-brainer to become a multi-unit operator,” said Noor Aqel, co-owner of Wetzel’s in RiverTown Crossings. “The ease of operations, simplicity of the menu and pre-established brand name makes franchising with Wetzel’s the best job I could ever want. Local entrepreneurs, Moe and Noor Aqel are paving the way for Wetzel’s in the Grand Rapids suburbs, with the support of their father, Basel. After pursuing a career in civil engineering, the business opportunity with Wetzel’s was too good for Noor to pass up. With previous sales experience of owning and operating a successful Sprint Store franchise for 15 years, Moe is excited for this new opportunity. The Aqels currently operate a pre-existing location within RiverTown Crossings Mall, and are well positioned to further the growth of the brand and feed even more hungry pretzel fans in West Michigan.
