Hyatt Announces Plans for Hyatt Place Georgetown Demerara

The new hotel will mark the first Hyatt-branded in Guyana

November 12, 2021 // Franchising.com // CHICAGO - Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with SIR Investments Guyana Inc. for the development of Hyatt Place Georgetown Demerara. Expected to open in 2023, the 125-room hotel will be managed by Aimbridge Hospitality and signifies the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Guyana.

Located in the Providence community in East Bank Demerara, Hyatt Place Georgetown Demerara will be located only 15 minutes away from the commercial hub of Georgetown and 22 miles from Cheddi Jagan International Airport. The area is already established as one of Guyana’s primary residential areas and features key attractions and amenities such as the National Stadium, the Princess Theatre and Hotel and a vibrant mix of retail shops and restaurants.

With a groundbreaking event slated for this month, Hyatt Place Georgetown Demerara is projected to open in the fourth quarter of 2023. Known for its elevated amenities and uncomplicated experience, the Hyatt Place brand expands its presence in South America.
