Youngest Franchise Owner Opens Her First SoBol Café with Great Success

Community Hungry for the Acai Bowl and Smoothie Café

December 23, 2021 // Franchising.com // Plainview, New York - The Nassau County hamlet of Plainview is home to the newest location of SoBol, located at 633 Old Country Road near the North Shore. SoBol, a healthy food franchise, specializes in acai bowls and smoothies.

Now, the youngest owner in the ranks, and hometown success, 22-year-old Megan Ryan is excited to bring this great food to her own community. Megan has a tremendous work ethic and vision for the future. “I’ve been working with my co-owners, Rich Salant and Andrew Serrano, for over 7 years,” says Ryan. “They have taught me so much about business, and I want to learn as much as I can. In my time at SoBol, I have gained great hands-on experience. I’ve done every job from the front of house to the back of house. I decided a few years ago that I wanted to own my own location and build financial security for myself. I’m just getting started with my dream, and it’s really exciting.”

Megan will serve as manager of the Plainview location and co-owner. She will be hands-on doing whatever it takes to serve up great food to her customers. She feels that working along- side her staff is the best way to set an example because if they see how hard she works, they will do the same. She’s even hired her little brother to work in the café, proving that this is a family undertaking. Megan says, “My parents are my inspiration and they’ve helped me and supported me throughout this journey. My mom is a teacher and my dad is a police officer, and now I’m a business owner.” Megan went on to define what success is to her by saying, “I want financial independence, I want to buy my own car, have my own place…but at the end of the day, it’s not about being a millionaire. It’s about being happy, and working hard and earning it on my own.”

Megan is driven and determined. She will be graduating in May as a dental hygienist which has been a dream of hers since childhood along with becoming a business owner. The sky is the limit as she also has her sights set on opening another SoBol location in the future. She says it’s the family atmosphere surrounding SoBol that makes her want to do her best. “I see how food and a smile can change a person’s day and I’m really happy to be a part of that. This is the community where I grew up and I’m so proud to give back in this way- with a great healthy food option.”

SoBol is well-known for its acai bowls and smoothies made with farm fresh fruits and vegetables with a completely customizable menu that has something for everyone. It’s great for those who may have dietary restrictions or those who might be watching their weight, but it’s also a delicious meal option for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack or dessert.

“The SoBol franchise has encouraged me every step of this journey. I’ve been a part of this company for a while now and I feel very confident that I’m going to do a good job because I want to keep learning and growing. The training I received to open this location was so motivating. I feel so supported by SoBol and I feel ready!”

“Megan is such an impressive young person and we could not be more proud to be a part of her journey,” says Mazzarone. “One of the best things that has come from creating this business is meeting incredible partners like Megan who believe in the product and want to take it next level.”
