Grumpy’s Restaurant Announces New Location in Neptune Beach

Family-Oriented Diner Plans to Bring Award-Winning Menu and Southern Hospitality to Neptune Beach

March 10, 2022 // Franchising.com // NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. - Grumpy’s Restaurant, an award-winning full-service Americana breakfast, lunch and brunch diner, announced a new lease agreement to open its newest location in Neptune Beach. This marks the Jacksonville staple’s fifth restaurant, joining locations in Orange Park, Middleburg, St. Johns, and Wildlight. Plans call for the Neptune Beach location to open in August 2022 at 200 3rd Street, Neptune Beach, FL 32266.

The Neptune Beach location will be owned by local husband-and-wife duo Michael and Tracy Yarbrough. The new diner will be the Yarbrough’s’ first Grumpy’s Restaurant location. Prior to opening their first Grumpy’s location, Tracy worked in numerous capacities in the restaurant industry, doing everything from bartending and serving to hosting private parties for numerous well-known restaurant brands. Michael, who served in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn, has 21 years of blended military and civilian experience. The disabled Veteran served in the United States Army and Florida Army National Guard from 1998 to 2013, handling things such as military tactical operations, insurance claims, financial services and financial technology. Tracy’s direct restaurant experience and Michael’s knowledge of financial principles and business analytics provide the perfect combination to assist in continuing the growth and success of Grumpy’s Restaurant.

“My husband and I were born and raised in Clay County and live in Green Cove Springs and we both graduated from Middleburg High School. We chose to help continue Grumpy’s expansion because it is a staple within our community known for its great food and customer service,” said Tracy. “Continuing to assist in the growth of Grumpy’s and helping create happy memories for the people in our Jacksonville community is extremely humbling and rewarding.”

The Neptune Beach restaurant is 4,000 square feet and will employ approximately 50 people.

The no-nonsense restaurant is committed to serving its community, especially local veterans, and Grumpy’s prides itself on never wavering on their commitment to excellent home-style cooking, attention-to-detail on the staff’s sweet southern hospitality while serving a hungry person’s portion at a working-class price. Jacksonville.com and the Florida Times-Union awarded Grumpy’s with the titles “Best Restaurant Overall” and “Best Kept Secret,” among others.

“It’s amazing to see that we have made an impact on people across Northeast Florida,” said Grumpy’s President & CEO Daniel DeLeon. “We’re excited to establish the same family atmosphere our current locations possess and look forward to growing the Grumpy’s family into Neptune Beach.”

Founded in 1999, the original Grumpy’s was a dream of a U.S. Navy cook, known as “Chef Grumpy: The Bad Mood Dude.” After retiring from service, the original “Grumpy” decided to take a leap of faith and continue to serve his community in a different facet.

Menu items are fresh, made to order and always made from scratch. Grumpy’s offers an array of daily and weekly chalk board specials which include a variety of sandwiches, homemade soups, salads, signature coffee, fresh squeezed juices, homemade hot chocolate and desserts.
