Island Fin Poké to Open First Location in Connecticut
Local Entrepreneur to Bring a Taste of Hawaii to Greenwich
April 13, 2022 // Franchising.com // GREENWICH, Conn. - Island Fin Poké - a fast-casual restaurant famous for its Hawaiian-style build-your-own poké bowls - is thrilled to announce the opening of its first Connecticut location. Located in the Greenwich neighborhood of Cos Cob at 136 E. Putnam Ave., this new restaurant will be owned by local entrepreneur and health enthusiast, Jamie Darnow. It is the first Island Fin Poké he intends on opening in the area.
With the restaurant expected to open at the end of April, Island Fin Poké will serve flavorful, healthy poké bowls (pronounced “poh-kay”), a popular Hawaiian dish consisting of proteins, such as fish, chicken, and tofu, accompanied by an array of nourishing toppings such as avocado and edamame served over lettuce or rice. Guests can choose from responsibly sourced ingredients and create their own customized poké bowl, choosing from over eight proteins, 25 different toppings, 9 gluten-free house-made sauces, and specialty mix-ins. The endless possibilities allow guests to get creative and experiment with something new every visit. The Greenwich restaurant is located in the Cos Cob Commons and offers indoor seating so visitors can immerse themselves in Island Fin Poké’s Hawaiian hospitality, and family-oriented atmosphere. Third-party delivery options will also be available.
Along with his successful corporate career as a C-Suite executive, Darnow looked for a new business opportunity that incorporated his passions for food, fitness, and quality guest experience. As a 17-year resident of Old Greenwich, active Cross-fitter, and foodie, Darnow wanted to bring something that aligned with his interests and introduced a nutritious dining option to the community. He came across Island Fin Poké and fell in love with the brand’s mission to provide quick, healthy meals that are full of flavor, as well as their commitment to creating a family-oriented guest experience, known as “Ohana.”
“There are many other people like me in Greenwich who are passionate about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but there is nothing in the area that draws them in with a welcoming atmosphere and fulfills their need for clean, value-oriented delicious food,” said Darnow. “I have a deep appreciation for the quality food and special experience that Island Fin Poké is known for and I can’t wait to share it with the Greenwich community.”
