Alabama kayak store announces expansion into the Midwest

May 26, 2022 // Franchising.com // Pelham, Alabama - The Yak Shak, a kayak retail store founded in Alabama in 2019, announced today that the brand has signed on its first franchise. The new location, slated to open later this year, will be in central Indiana.

“This new location will provide access to kayaks and gear that otherwise would be extremely difficult to freight from just one location,” says franchisor co-owner Allen Norris.

Franchisees, Bryan and Alyson Sparks, learned about The Yak Shak first as customers before deciding to open a location of their own. “Kayak fishing is a passion of mine and I’ve been competing in tournaments long before I thought of it as a business opportunity,” says Bryan Sparks. He adds, “Being able to combine my passion into a successful business made this a perfect match for me and my family.”

“We are excited to welcome everyone in the Sparks family to The Yak Shak brand, and we have no doubt that they will serve their community extremely well,” says Norris.
