New Homecare Provider - GoodOaks Homecare Opens in Cambridge

February 23, 2023 // Franchising.com // Lorela Gragasin moved to the UK with her husband Denivin from the Philippines 20 years ago. Between them they have 50 years of experience in the healthcare sector. Previously, both Lorela and Denivin worked in mental health and psychiatric care in the UK and the Philippines.

The couple now live in Royston, and their GoodOaks Homecare office is at William James House, Cowley Road in Cambridge. The office covers Cambridge and Royston, as well as Abbey, Coleridge,Petersfield and Cherry Hinton, meaning the couple are right in the middle of the community they serve. The care company has just received accreditation from the Care Quality Commission, which regulates and inspects health and social care services in England.

For Director and Registered Manager Lorela, her new care business was always more than a job. She said “My passion is caring. In the hospital we cared for older patients so when I heard about GoodOaks, I was drawn to their ethos and values about looking after people in their own homes with empathy and respect. For me, looking after older people is like looking after your parents. You want to give them the best care possible. I have a real passion for providing support that’s tailored to each individual. We're really excited to be a part of GoodOaks because their values align so well with ours.”

For Lorela, it was important to be able to give back and look after clients like they were her family. Sadly, her own mother passed away during the pandemic in the Philippines and because of the restrictions on travel, she was unable to go home and be with family. “I want to make sure that our clients get the very best care, like they are our parents. My husband and I have spent half our lives caring for people and it has been the best experience.”

They are both very excited to help people in their local community remain living independently at home.
