SYNERGY HomeCare Announces Newest Franchise in Winter Park, Florida

Lifelong Caregiver Broadens Her Reach By Venturing Into Ownership

July 06, 2023 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. - SYNERGY HomeCare has a new location in Winter Park, FL.

SYNERGY HomeCare of Winter Park is owned and operated by Paulette Gordon, a mother and third-generation caregiver who has spent over 15 years working in hospital settings as a registered nurse in facilities around Florida.

Headquartered at 1850 Lee Rd, Ste 308 in Winter Park, the company serves residents in the city of Winter Park as well as the surrounding communities. SYNERGY HomeCare of Winter Park provides clients with a wide variety of non-medical care options, from companion care to personal care to specialized care for people with chronic health conditions or recovering from illness or surgery.

Paulette saw a growing need in her community for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over the age of 65. A recent AARP survey found that 75% of those 65+ report they want to remain in their current residence for as long as possible.

The entirety of Paulette’s career and higher education has been focused on providing care, from her first job to her most recent role. When she first started working as a server at an independent living facility at age 16, Paulette recognized her passion and her natural aptitude for working with older people. After spending her formative years at the facility, Paulette expanded her caregiving capabilities by pursuing a Bachelor’s and eventually a Master’s Degree in Nursing at Florida Atlantic University.

“I’ve always been drawn to the idea of making people’s lives easier, but even at an early age,, my favorite part of the process was connecting with people,” says Paulette. “Listening to the stories and hearing about the life experiences of the people I was helping allowed me to understand the full scope of the work I was doing. It also provided these clients with a sense of comfort that I could see that truly mattered to them. Ultimately, that’s where I took the most pride.”

After finishing graduate school in 2012 as an advanced practice registered nurse, Paulette spent the next eight years in a hospital emergency department. Following the birth of her daughter in 2020, she transitioned back to her roots working in a skilled nursing facility which has made her acutely aware of both the opportunities and challenges within the long-term caregiving business.

“As someone who watched their mother, grandmother, and step-grandmother devote their lives to the betterment of others, I am fully aware that the care continuum is all about family,” says Paulette. “As soon as we come into a loved one’s home, we strive to become a part of that family. This means not only helping the client themself but also providing care for their loved ones and reducing the stressors that often come with hands-on caregiving. We want you to enjoy spending as much time with your loved one as possible, while we handle what could have been making that difficult to do.”

SYNERGY HomeCare of Winter Park focuses on multiple types of in-home care. In addition to providing older people with assistance in maintaining their independence, Paulette also provides childcare, backup care and assistance to expecting families. Paulette has also spent years working in the memory care unit, which has given her the capability to provide advanced memory care support.

According to Paulette, most of her clients lack a local support system and need to rely on caregivers for assistance cooking, shopping, running errands, light housekeeping, or going for walks. Some require personal care such as help with bathing, dressing, or using the restroom.

“I want to help as many people live as full of a life as possible, and that means keeping them in their homes and letting them know they have the support they need to enjoy their independence without risking their own health,” says Paulette.
