Goodcents Expands With 10-Unit Texas Deal

July 27, 2023 // Franchising.com // DE SOTO, Kan. - Goodcents is expanding into Texas after an area representative agreement was signed to build 10 new restaurants in the Greater Houston metro area.

Jax and Chad Johnson, both Kansas City area natives and longtime fans of Goodcents who now live in Katy, are the area representatives in the Texas market. At Goodcents, area representatives invest in a geographic area and are responsible for developing 10 stores within the area.

“I moved away 13 years ago, and whenever I come back to Kansas City, I have to have Goodcents – a No. 9, turkey on wheat with tomato, salt, pepper and mayo, and mostaccioli dipping sauce,” said Jax Johnson, who worked at Goodcents when she was in high school. “I always loved the food and the smell of the bread baking. No one makes a sandwich like Goodcents.”

Jax Johnson owns two pet businesses but said she was looking for something else when her husband found that Goodcents was expanding. After a couple of calls with Goodcents, they decided the time was right to bring Goodcents to Texas.

Chad Johnson said when he played high school football, his dad would deliver Goodcents subs to the team for lunch.

“We both have history with Goodcents, and now we’ll have a future with the company, too,” said Jax Johnson. “I am so happy to be bringing ‘home’ to where I live. I need a little Kansas City where I am.”

“We are thrilled to be working with Jax and Chad to bring Goodcents to Texas,” said Jami Bond, Goodcents’ vice president of franchise development. “They say everything is bigger in Texas, and we expect that to be true of the Goodcents fans there once they taste our amazing food and smell our bread baking.”
