The Toasted Yolk Café to Open Newest Restaurant in Waco, Texas

Breakfast and Brunch Concept to Open Eighth New Location This Year

August 28, 2023 // Franchising.com // Waco, Texas - The Toasted Yolk, a full-service eatery featuring breakfast, lunch and brunch favorites, will open its newest restaurant on Monday, August 28 in Waco, Texas.

The new restaurant is located at 1725 Washington Avenue in a stand-alone building that was recently renovated. The restaurant will feature indoor and outdoor seating, including a patio that seats 28. The café will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Toasted Yolk serves its unique breakfast and lunch specialties, as well as its boozy brunch cocktails that can be enjoyed at the full-sized bar or on the patio. The menus offer meals that can be savored throughout the day, allowing diners to enjoy egg specialties and coffee in the morning, boozy cocktails and savory pancakes at brunch, and a variety of delicious salads, sandwiches and soups during lunchtime.

The new restaurant will be owned by Gerald and Melissa Doerr. This will be the third Toasted Yolk restaurant the couple owns, along with two others in the Houston area. They have operated the location in The Heights for 3 ½ years and the restaurant in Bellaire for two years. The Doerrs also plan on opening Toasted Yolks in Killeen and Temple in the coming years.

“My wife and I had been going to Toasted Yolk for years and enjoyed the variety of upscale breakfast and brunch options, so we decided to invest in the business,” said Gerald Doerr. “There has been a lot of excitement from customers around Waco leading up to the opening of the new restaurant here. We know they’ll love the fun and unique atmosphere, wide selection of favorite entrees, and our full-service bar.”

The Toasted Yolk Waco restaurant will hold its grand opening on Monday, August 28. Ten percent of its opening day sales will go to Waco Pets Alive, an organization that provides the resources, programs, and education needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals at the Waco Animal Shelter. The restaurant will give away free donuts, sell half-priced mimosas and raffle off a chance for three customers to win free breakfast or lunch (one meal per week) for a year.

“Gerald and Melissa have done an outstanding job in their ownership of the restaurants in The Heights and Bellaire the last several years and they will use that valuable experience in the operation of the new restaurant in Waco, said Toasted Yolk Co-Founder Chris Milton.
