Penn Station East Coast Subs Donates $60,000 to National Down Syndrome Adoption Network

Sandwich Franchise Has Now Donated More than $500,000 over 10 years

February 05, 2024 // Franchising.com // CINCINNATI, OHIO - Penn Station East Coast Subs, a leading fast-casual sandwich restaurant franchise, recently made a donation of $60,000 to the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network.

The donations began years ago with the Penn Station Founder Jeff Osterfeld, who has several close friends with children with Down syndrome and has been a supporter of related organizations for two decades. Penn Station has been fully funding the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network since 2014 and has donated more than $500,000 over that time.

“This is a cause our founder has been intimately involved with for more than 20 years,” said Penn Station Chief Operating Officer Craig Dunaway. “We have sponsored golf tournaments as well as fully funding the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network. We continue our commitment to people effected by Down syndrome with a yearly round-up fundraiser for local support organizations across all our markets.”

The mission of the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network is to ensure that every child born with Down syndrome has the opportunity to grow up in a loving family. Local Down syndrome organizations utilize contributions and funds to provide a wide variety of ongoing programs and support services to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

“The National Down Syndrome Adoption Network is beyond grateful for Penn Station's continued generosity and commitment to our mission to ensure that more children with Down syndrome have the opportunity to grow up in a loving family,” said Stephanie Thompson, Director, National Down Syndrome Adoption Network. “This past year, Penn Station’s donation helped support 67 families who considered creating an adoption plan, as well as more than 50 families interested in adopting a child with Down syndrome. Because of the partnership with Penn Station, we can provide support, information and connections for expectant, birth and adoptive families.
