Sylvan Learning Multi-Unit Franchisee to Enter New State

February 09, 2024 // Franchising.com // BALTIMORE - Sylvan Learning awarded a new territory in Topsham, Maine, to Leah LaClaire, which will house the only center in the state.

LaClaire has worked for Sylvan for nearly two decades and has owned Vermont’s only center for four years. She was born and raised in Maine and knew she wanted to bring a Sylvan to her home state when presented with the opportunity to expand her footprint and become a multi-unit owner.

“Having grown up in the area, I know there is little competition and a huge demand for a Sylvan in Maine,” said LaClaire. “I left the state for college and to start my career in education, and now I’m thrilled to bring what I’ve learned home with me. I look forward to being a one-stop, all-subject resource for students seeking support throughout their academic journey.”

Sylvan Learning has been producing proven results for over four decades. Now, it serves as a key resource for students nationwide as they work to recover from pandemic-related learning loss. Similarly, more educators than ever are exploring business ownership with the brand to provide personalized educational support to their communities.

“Leah is a natural fit to bring Sylvan into a new market,” said Jeff Stephenson, Vice President of Franchise Development at Sylvan. “After acquiring the only Sylvan in Vermont, she knows what it takes to serve a broad geographical area, all while maintaining the proven results families have come to know and love from Sylvan. We look forward to supporting her as she grows into a new state and into multi-unit ownership.”
