Sylvan Learning Opens New Center in Hattiesburg

February 13, 2024 // Franchising.com // HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Sylvan Learning has opened its newest franchise location in Hattiesburg, Miss., at 6059 U.S. Highway 98, Suite 10 near Turtle Creek Mall.

Sylvan Learning of Hattiesburg is locally owned by Hattiesburg native Brandian Bufford, an educator with a PhD in educational leadership and a servant heart for giving back to her community.

“I’m so passionate about opening my own Sylvan, because education changed my life,” said Bufford. “I was a young mom, and a mentor encouraged and equipped me to apply for financial aid resources that led me to get my bachelors, masters and PhD in education. Now, I’m on a mission to give back to my hometown by serving the next generation of students that will make a difference in our world.”

Bufford served K–12 students and held various leadership positions throughout her nearly 20 years in education. “I genuinely love working with all types of students, parents, school districts and local and state leaders,” she said. “Sylvan allows me to maintain those relationships while pursuing my dream of being an entrepreneur in education. I researched several education franchise concepts, and nothing came close to Sylvan’s trust equity, proven model and built-in support.”

Sylvan Learning serves as a key resource for students as they work to recover from pandemic-related learning loss. Sylvan’s proven tutoring approach and advanced technology-based curriculum are designed to give each student a personalized, trackable plan to achieve their educational goals.

“We’re proud to open our doors in Hattiesburg and provide a one-stop, all-subject resource to support students through every stage of their academic journey,” said John McAuliffe, CEO of Sylvan. “Whether a student needs help catching up or advancing their skillset, Sylvan is here to help, and there is no one better to lead this center than Brandian.”
