AtWork Raleigh Employee Finalist in National Staffing Award
August 20, 2024 // Franchising.com // RALEIGH, N.C. - AtWork® is excited to announce that Tracy Thompkins, a Raleigh man who found permanent work through being placed by the local staffing company, has earned national recognition from the American Staffing Association as a top staffing employee.
“I am honored for this recognition,” said Thompkins. “AtWork and their partnership changed my life; I would not be where I am today without their support.”
A life of addiction and crime in Thompkins’ teenage years led to three prison sentences. Two weeks after returning to civilian life, Thompkins walked into AtWork Raleigh, determined to turn his life around. With the help of AtWork Raleigh’s franchise owner, Jerry Bland, Thompkins now excels in a job in the solar distribution industry, rents an apartment, owns a car, and meets with residents currently at the same halfway house he used to live in.
“Tracy was authentic and honest with me about his situation. His commitment to changing his life was evident, and I am incredibly proud of what he has done,” said Bland. “Seeing someone like Tracy transform his life with a little guidance and opportunity is exactly why I chose to open AtWork Raleigh.”
The National Staffing Employee of the Year program recognizes the most outstanding temporary and contract workers in the country. In 2023, U.S. staffing companies employed temporary and contract workers; Thompkins is one of nine finalists to be recognized.
“Tracy’s journey is a powerful example of what can happen when determination meets opportunity,” said Jason Leverant, President and COO of AtWork. “We are incredibly proud to have been a part of his success story.”
As a 2025 National Staffing Employee of the Year Finalist, Thompkins and AtWork will be recognized at the 2024 Staffing World convention and expo in Nashville.
