Sacramento Entrepreneur Honored with Prestigious Award
October 08, 2024 // Franchising.com // SACRAMENTO, Calif. – AtWork® recently recognized leading franchise owner Josephine Suryono with the AtWork For You Award. This award, named after the staffing franchise’s slogan, “AtWork For You,” is given annually to a franchise owner who embodies the company's commitment to a service-focused mission.
“Josephine’s grit, drive, and focus on client and talent experience made her a no-brainer for this award,” said Jason Leverant, President and COO of AtWork. “Her willing and eager attitude to work with us, help fellow owners in the company, and to try new things is invaluable. We are so grateful for franchisees like her who embrace the process, which reflects in her success.”
From Immigrant to Successful Entrepreneur
Suryono’s inspiring path to success started as an immigrant from Surabaya, Indonesia. She pursued higher education in the U.S. before starting an engineering career that included working as a business analyst at Hewlett-Packard. Her entrepreneurial spirit, inherited from her mother, led her to purchase an indoor inflatable play and party franchise and eventually open two AtWork locations in Sacramento, which allows her to help people in her community find work and help business owners fill jobs.
“I am honored to receive this award. AtWork has provided me with the necessary tools and support to not only succeed as an entrepreneur but have a meaningful impact on those in Northern California,” said Suryono. “My entrepreneurial journey is enriching, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my community in such a significant way.”
Suryono owns two AtWork locations in Sacramento that provide contingent and permanent workforce solutions to small businesses in the area, mainly in light manufacturing, administrative, IT, accounting, engineering and other professional sectors. In 2024, her offices have worked with over 40 businesses alone. Suryono prides herself in the relationships she builds with candidates and clients. Her dedication has resulted in never losing a client – something not many business owners can say!
“We are not just another vendor to many of our clients, but an extension to their company,” said Suryono. “Whether an employee quits without notice or a manufacturing client needs help meeting a fast-approaching shipping deadline, we are always ready to step in and support, ensuring their operations run smoothly no matter the challenge.”
Transforming Lives
One aspect Suryono takes immense pride in, is not just finding jobs for candidates but transforming their lives in the process. That could look like connecting a candidate with a company that can provide them the unique assistance they require to perform a job or helping a candidate improve his interview skills to land a job.
“We believe every candidate has a unique 'home' in the workforce, even those overlooked by other agencies and companies,” said Suryono.
Another way Suryono embodies the “AtWork For You” slogan is her commitment to her community. Her AtWork locations partner with non-profits and government agencies to support refugees, provide outplacement services, and help those in need find meaningful work.
