College HUNKS Hauling Junk Ranked Among Top Franchises for Veterans

November 11, 2024 // Franchising.com // TAMPA, Fla. – College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving® was once again recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as one of the nation’s top franchises for military veterans.

“Veterans play an important role at College HUNKS and we value their service,” said Travis Mellish, vice president of franchise development and legal affairs for College HUNKS. “Their work ethic, leadership and commitment to the business is all part of our company’s values. Veterans are highly valued and sought-after franchisees. College HUNKS participates in the International Franchise Association’s VetFran program, a strategic initiative designed to offer incentives and support to veterans who are interested in franchise ownership.

Jeff Moss, who opened a College HUNKS location in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 2018, served in Operation Desert Storm as an attack helicopter pilot before joining the corporate world. But after watching friends get laid off during the holidays, Moss grew weary of his time in the corporate world. Eventually, he was laid off, too, and soon found a home at College HUNKS.

“I had the chance to change things for others and not put them through what my family went through over nine seasons of holidays,” he said of opening his own location. “At the end of the day, College HUNKS has given me my life back and total directional control of where I want to take my company.”

Annually, Entrepreneur ranks the 150 best franchise opportunities for veterans based on factors such as incentives, support and other programs offered to veterans by franchisors.
