SYNERGY Homecare Opens Its Newest Location in Chicago’s Suburbs
December 11, 2024 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. – SYNERGY® HomeCare has announced its newest location based in Chicago’s suburbs, SYNERGY HomeCare of Glenbrook.
The company is led by Joe Galo, a Glenview native and current resident of Lake Forest who is now pivoting from his previous career in finance to bring compassionate care to the communities that have already provided so much for him.
Located at 2550 Compass Road Suite G in Glenview, the company assists residents of Chicago’s northern suburbs, including Bannockburn, Deerfield, Glencoe, Glenview, Green Oaks, Highland Park, Highwood, Kenilworth, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Mettawa, Northbrook, Northfield, Prospect Heights, Riverwoods, Vernon Hills, Wheeling, Wilmette and Winnetka. Joe and his team of caregivers will provide these communities with a wide variety of non-medical in-home care options, from companion care to personal care and respite care.
As a native Chicagoan, Joe was able to recognize the area’s growing need for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 90% of this demographic reports wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
Before transitioning into the homecare industry, Joe spent 25 years working in finance, which he chose to leave behind in pursuit of a more gratifying and meaningful career. Upon reflecting on what career that could be, Joe looked to the residents of his hometown to see what their biggest needs were. He quickly observed a pressing issue within the local older population. In Chicago’s northern suburbs, there are several independent living facilities nearby, however, many potential clients face difficulty being admitted into these facilities or affording the care there. He realized that an in-home care provider could offer solutions to both of these problems.
“Getting into a senior living facility is a hassle, from both a monetary and emotional standpoint,” said Joe. “I’ve witnessed friends and neighbors be stifled by long waiting lists or insurmountable bills. With the way that the healthcare industry has evolved, this doesn’t need to be the case. Professional caregivers are more than capable of providing aging loved ones with the assistance they need from home, which is not only less expensive and more convenient, but also maintains much more dignity for the person receiving care.”
Many of North Chicago’s residents often need to rely on caregivers for additional assistance cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping or going for walks. Some even require personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing, and other activities of daily living.
“I love the North Shore, and I love the people who live here,” said Joe. “One of the biggest benefits of home care is that it preserves familiar routines while providing the resources that an older person needs to continue functioning independently. I want to be the ultimate community resource that enhances quality of life, without making a person leave the home they love or sacrifice who they are.”
