SYNERGY Homecare Welcomes Its Newest Location in Baltimore Suburbs

December 11, 2024 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. – SYNERGY® HomeCare has announced its newest franchise located in just outside of Baltimore, SYNERGY HomeCare of Ellicott City.

The company is owned and operated by Hetal Shah Khurana, a 20-year healthcare veteran guided by empathy and a deep commitment to personalized, compassionate care.

The company assists residents with a wide variety of non-medical in-home care services, from companion care to personal care and respite care.

Khrurana saw a growing need for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 90% of this demographic reports wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

Khrurana's journey into healthcare began with a deep desire to make a real difference in people's lives. After earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Montana, she spent the first decade of her career working directly with patients. Those years were incredibly rewarding, allowing her to form genuine connections and understand their struggles–not just physical, but emotional as well. These experiences instilled in her a profound understanding of the importance of truly personalized care that considers each person's unique needs within the comfort of their own home.

Driven by a desire for broader impact, Khrurana transitioned into healthcare analytics. She spent the next decade collaborating with healthcare systems to uncover ways to improve care quality and patient outcomes. While she delved into data and analyzed trends, she never lost sight of the human stories. Khrurana witnessed how systemic issues often created barriers to compassionate care, fueling her passion to find a way to combine data-driven insights with the human touch.

Howard County is home to assisted living facilities, state-of-the-art hospitals and a growing aging population. Many members of this population need to rely on caregivers for additional assistance cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping or going for walks. Some even require personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing or using the toilet.

“As many people are starting to prefer receiving care in the comfort of their own homes rather than in facilities, we’re committed to meeting that need with compassionate, personalized home care,” says Khurana. “With our community’s aging population and the rise in chronic health conditions, it’s clear that home care can provide the ongoing support many families need. At SYNERGY HomeCare of Ellicott City, we will be a trusted partner in delivering care that truly enhances the lives of those we serve.”
