Nation’s Leading Upscale Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch Restaurant Brand Signs Multi-Unit Agreement with Local Operators to Expand in South Florida

January 17, 2025 // Franchising.com // PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Another Broken Egg Cafe, the award-winning, elevated ‘NextGen Casual’ daytime-only restaurant, announced today its expansion into St. Lucie and Martin Counties, Florida. Local entrepreneurs Robert Swigonski, Angelo Genova and Chuck Minervini have signed a multi-unit franchise agreement to open three cafes in the communities of Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Palm City and Fort Pierce, bringing a fresh new dining experience to the region.

The first cafe is slated to open in early 2025 in Port St. Lucie at The Shoppes at Veranda Falls, located at 876 Southeast Becker Road.

“I’ve always had a passion for the daytime dining segment, and after more than 20 years in that space, I knew I wanted to return to it,” said Swigonski. “Breakfast has always been my favorite segment of the restaurant industry, even while I’ve continued to operate other concepts. When I dined at Another Broken Egg Cafe, I was blown away by the quality of the food, the exceptional service and the welcoming atmosphere. For me, the most rewarding part of restaurant ownership has always been spending time in the restaurants and building relationships with the guests, especially those who become regulars. I can’t wait to create that same sense of community here in Port St. Lucie with Another Broken Egg Cafe.”

Swigonski, Genova and Minervini bring a wealth of experience to their new venture with Another Broken Egg Cafe. Swigonski, a disabled veteran who proudly served in the United States Airforce, began his restaurant career by opening a Denny’s location after completing his service. Over the years, he expanded his ownership to include five Denny’s and three Bennigan’s and most recently worked with Longhorn Steakhouse. With more than 30 years in the industry, Swigonski is eager to re-enter the breakfast segment.

Genova is also a successful entrepreneur with a 40-year background in New York and Florida, working in the construction industry. His attention to detail and craftmanship will be beneficial in the building of their restaurants. Genova also volunteered at 911 in New York, when the buildings fell at Ground Zero. In addition, his son, Angelo J. Genova, who has many years of restaurant experience in New York and Florida, will be joining them.

Minervini brings his own extensive experience as the founder of the famous East Side Comedy Club, the first comedy club of its kind on Long Island. As the owner/operator of this renowned comedy club, Minervini had the pleasure of working with some of today's comedy greats who got their start there. This seasoned trio is enthusiastic about bringing their diverse backgrounds and passion for hospitality to Port St. Lucie, where they look forward to offering a unique Southern-inspired dining experience with Another Broken Egg Cafe.

“Robert, Angelo and Chuck are set to make a remarkable impression with Another Broken Egg Cafe in Port St. Lucie,” said Jeff Sturgis, Chief Development Officer for Another Broken Egg Cafe. “Their extensive experience and commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for guests align perfectly with our brand’s values. They recognize the benefits of our daytime-only operations, which streamline management and improve work-life balance for operators. We are excited to see their expertise and insights drive our expansion in South Florida and positively impact the local community.”

Dedicated to their community, Swigonski, Genova and Minervini look forward to becoming members of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce and supporting local organizations such as the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Additionally, their sons, who also have restaurant experience, will be actively involved in running the business.
