Synergy Homecare Continues Recent Expansion in the Greater Bay Area

The company is owned and operated by Vivian Mendoza, a University of Phoenix business graduate who began her career in social services as a volunteer reserve police officer, before entering corporate America as a security project manager. Along the way, Mendoza navigated many of the challenges typical for sandwich generation adults, caring for both her mother and child, which deepened her appreciation for caregiving.

Headquartered in Livermore, Mendoza and her team of compassionate caregivers will assist residents throughout Livermore, Tracy, and Mountain House with a wide variety of non-medical, in-home care services, from companion care to personal care and respite care.

As a sandwich generation caregiver herself, Mendoza has become attuned to Livermore’s growing demand for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 80% of this demographic report wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

Mendoza’s professional career has been defined by her attention to detail and ability to handle high-pressure scenarios. As a volunteer police officer, she gained firsthand experience in de-escalating critical situations, which is a skill she later leveraged in the security sector of corporate America. Since then, she has managed millions of dollars' worth of critical assets and infrastructure, while establishing clear parameters and developing strategic plans to drive successful outcomes for her team and clients.

Mendoza’s security expertise is further reinforced by her numerous industry certifications. She is a licensed security guard trainer and a Crime Prevention Specialist accredited through California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). She is also an active member of ASIS International and the Silicon Valley Security Group, a local non-profit security organization.

“As an only child in the sandwich generation, I understand the struggles that millions of other Americans face while they navigate their care options without guidance,” said Mendoza. “My experience with my mother shaped my belief that no family should go at it alone. It’s become my personal mission to connect with other families while they navigate their own vulnerable situations, and connect them with reliable, compassionate caregivers who can truly make a difference.”

Livermore and the surrounding Tri-Valley area are home to multiple regional medical centers and healthcare providers that often assist residents with several serious conditions. Many often live with chronic conditions or disabilities that persist after their facility stay and rely on caregivers for additional assistance cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping or going for walks. Some even require personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing or using the toilet.

“Our goal is simple: to help people live their best lives at home with dignity and peace of mind,” said Mendoza. “During my mother’s illness, home care allowed her to maintain the dignity she deserved, while providing our family with the support we desperately needed. I understand how powerful that calming presence is, and it directly inspired my can-do attitude when it comes to helping other members of my community.”
