Grumpy’s Restaurant Partners with Cliff Avril Family Foundation for Annual Charity Weekend and Family Fun Day

May 28, 2026 // Franchising.com // JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Grumpy’s Restaurant is announcing its continued partnership with the Cliff Avril Family Foundation for the organization’s upcoming Charity Weekend and Family Fun Day. Set to take place Sunday, June 7 from 1–5 pm, this partnership marks the fourth consecutive year the restaurant has supported the community-driven initiative.

As part of its annual contribution, Grumpy’s Restaurant will donate all food for the Family Fun Day, helping ensure the event remains completely free and accessible to attendees. Grumpy’s historical contributions have included cases of ribs and chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, chips, beverages, hamburgers, hot dogs and more to support families attending the event. The partnership reflects Grumpy’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities it serves while helping create accessible experiences for local families and youth across Northeast Florida.

Founded in 2014 by former NFL player and Jacksonville-area resident Cliff Avril, the Cliff Avril Family Foundation was created to increase awareness of Type 2 diabetes among youth and encourage healthy living through nutrition, exercise and community education. Inspired by the loss of his grandmother and his mother’s diabetes diagnosis, Avril established the foundation to create greater access to educational resources, mentorship opportunities and community support initiatives for youth and families both locally and internationally.

The organization’s annual Charity Weekend began in 2013 with a youth football camp hosted at Cliff’s alma mater, Clay High School, focused on inspiring local youth through sports and leadership. In 2014, the organization expanded the weekend to include the Family Fun Day, creating an even greater opportunity for community engagement and family connection. Today, the free event brings together local families, businesses and organizations for a day of food, music, games, entertainment, giveaways and activities for all ages in a safe, welcoming and uplifting environment.
