Synergy Homecare Expands Into Western Maryland
June 25, 2026 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. – SYNERGY® HomeCare has announced the opening of its western-most location in Maryland, SYNERGY HomeCare in South Frederick.
The company is owned and operated by Mehmet Faruk Kayan, who decided to transition into home care after spending years working as an estimator for a home remodeling company, where he was able to witness firsthand the most common household needs of older residents, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
Headquartered in Frederick, Kayan and his team of compassionate caregivers will assist residents throughout Adamstown, Barnesville, Beallsville, Boyds, Buckeystown, Dickerson, Clarksburg, Damascus, Frederick, Ijamsville, Monrovia, Mount Airy, New Market, and Point of Rocks. Kayan’s team will provide a wide variety of non-medical, in-home care services, from companion care to personal care and respite care.
Kayan’s numerous on-site interactions with former clients allowed him to notice the area’s increasing desire for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 80% of this demographic report wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
In his previous role as a home remodeling estimator, Kayan was often tasked with visiting client homes, assessing their most pressing needs, and then creating a plan to address those needs while staying within the client’s budget. Over the years, Kayan had numerous interactions with people who needed assistance making their homes more accessible and viable for aging in place.
“I’ve had the opportunity to visit many Maryland homes and interact with many different groups of people, including elderly residents, military veterans, and individuals with disabilities,” said Kayan. “These encounters opened my eyes to the challenges that so many people face behind closed doors when it comes to maintaining independence and quality of life. For these individuals, a successful remodel wasn’t just about checking boxes. It was about genuinely listening and understanding their unique needs, then providing them with the tailored solutions that fit their preferences and personality.”
When Kayan began meeting with other SYNERGY HomeCare franchise owners, he realized that there was a significant overlap between the services they offer and his favorite parts of his previous job. Shortly after these meetings, he realized that home care was the natural next step in his life, allowing him to combine his compassion, dedication to service, and understanding of independent living to create a safer, more supportive environment for his community.
“Over time, I realized that what people appreciated in my work wasn’t just the service I provided, it was the way I treated them,” said Kayan. “When I’d receive feedback from clients praising my patience, kindness, or responsiveness, those were the cases where I knew I was really doing something right. Every client can feel comfortable knowing that our company is built on the simple but powerful belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect – especially in their most vulnerable moments.”
Kayan’s corner of Maryland is home to over 31,000 individuals aged 65 or older, representing more than 20% of the area’s total population. Many of these residents often need to rely on caregivers for additional assistance cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping or going for walks. Some even require personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing or using the toilet.
