Synergy Homecare Continues Recent Expansion in Chicago’s Suburbs

The company is led by Landell “Dell” Smith, a South Chicago native, volunteer preacher, and experienced healthcare entrepreneur. After spending three decades preaching across Chicagoland and roughly 15 years working with seniors as a hearing instrument specialist, Smith turned to home care as a way to deepen his relationships with the area’s older adults and provide them with ongoing support.

Headquartered at 8200 W 185th Street, Suite G-25 in Tinley Park, Smith and his team of compassionate caregivers will assist residents in both Tinley Park and Orland Park with a wide variety of non-medical, in-home care services, from companion care to personal care and respite care.

Through his work as a hearing instrument specialist, Smith has developed close relationships with many of the area’s seniors who frequently discuss their need for these services, particularly Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 80% of this demographic report wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

Following his graduation from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Smith initially built a career in insurance. However, after 14 years in the industry, Smith realized he preferred face-to-face, hands-on work that he’t find behind a desk. This led him to the hearing healthcare field, where he has spent more than 15 years helping older adults with hearing aid assessments, speech recognition, auditory therapy, and instrument fitting. Today, Smith owns and operates his own hearing healthcare business.

Smith is well-connected to his community through his South Chicago roots, his work as a local preacher, and his involvement with a local service fraternity that coordinates philanthropic efforts throughout the Tinley Park area. As a graduate of Kenwood Academy High School, Smith has grown up with many of the families he now works with and has firsthand experience watching his hometown communities evolve.
