Smalls Sliders® Celebrates Grand Opening of First-Ever Ohio Can in South Point

July 16, 2026 // Franchising.com // SOUTH POINT, Ohio – South Point is about to get a little more Smorange™ as Smalls Sliders celebrates the grand opening of its first-ever Ohio Can, bringing its signature cheeseburger sliders, seasoned waffle fries and hand-spun shakes to the Buckeye State. Led by local operators and brothers Beckett and Sam Gue, the fast-growing cheeseburger slider brand will officially open on Tuesday, July 21, at 10 a.m.

Located at 39 Township Road 1429 E., the South Point Can will celebrate its grand opening with a community event featuring a live DJ, cornhole, LEGO® activities and a variety of Smalls giveaways throughout opening week. The first 100 guests each day from Tuesday, July 21, through Thursday, July 23, will receive either a pair of exclusive Smalls orange slides or a Smalls hat, while supplies last. Guests can also enjoy branded giveaways including stickers, keychains, stress balls and other Smalls merchandise.

“We're excited to celebrate the grand opening of the first Smalls Sliders in Ohio and continue the brand's growth into new markets," said Beckett Gue. “With South Point serving as the gateway to the Tri-State region, we're looking forward to introducing Smalls to guests from Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky while creating a fun, welcoming destination for the entire community.”

Ahead of the grand opening, Smalls Sliders recognized Greg Elmore as the restaurant's Smalls Town Hero. A beloved member of the South Point community, Elmore has spent the past 28 years welcoming customers as a greeter at the local Walmart, where his kindness, positivity and friendly spirit have made a lasting impact on generations of residents. In recognition of his dedication to the community, the Gue family presented Elmore with a charitable donation in his honor as part of the Smalls Town Hero program.

“South Point has always been home to our family,” said Sam Gue. “Beckett and I grew up here, so opening our first Smalls Sliders Can in the community that shaped us is incredibly meaningful. We look forward to creating jobs, supporting local organizations and giving families from across the region another great place to gather while giving back to the community that's given so much to us.”

Brothers Beckett and Sam Gue are experienced multi-unit restaurant operators who also own several Guthrie's Chicken locations throughout the region. Beckett brings an extensive background in entrepreneurship and franchising, including previous ownership of GoFan and multi-unit ownership with Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers and Guthrie's Chicken. Sam previously served as District Superintendent for South Point Local School District before transitioning into restaurant operations, where he now oversees day-to-day operations for the family's restaurant portfolio.

The South Point restaurant marks the first Smalls Sliders location in Ohio and the first Can in a multi-unit development agreement that will bring more than five Smalls Sliders locations to the region.
