Cheba Hut Touches Down in Clarksville With a Fresh New Joint
August 07, 2026 // Franchising.com // CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Clarksville is about to get a little more toasted. Cheba Hut, the counterculture sandwich shop known for its chill atmosphere, cottonmouth cures and legendary munchie fixes, is rolling into town with its newest shop at 419 N. Riverside Drive, slated to open Aug. 14.
Conveniently positioned near Austin Peay State University, the 101st Air Assault community, Ford Ice Center and F&M Bank Arena, the latest location gives students, military families, locals and hungry wanderers a new destination to kick back, grab a bite and stay awhile. The opening also marks the franchise group's second restaurant, following its Nashville-Donelson location, as the owners continue to plant Cheba Hut roots across Tennessee.
The path that led ownership into the restaurant business& wasn’t one they planned. Their first connection to the concept came through their other business venture, Draft Doctors LLC, a draft beer installation company that was brought in to work on the Little Rock Cheba Hut location years ago.
"We kept running into the same thing no matter where we went, and it was consistent," said Dawn Atkins, franchise owner. "You'd walk into shops in Colorado, Nevada, Georgia or Ohio, and every place felt familiar without feeling identical. The recipes delivered every time. We figured if a place can make people feel at home while serving food they’d crave later that night, and the next day, there was probably room for that in Tennessee."
Like every location throughout the Chebaverse, the Clarksville restaurant carries its own personality through a custom mural inspired by the neighborhood. The artwork takes a playful route, drawing on local inspiration and the owner's passions, depicting five wiener dogs dropping from helicopters in full military gear as they parachute toward Austin Peay's stadium.
The mural is both a tribute and a wink to the surrounding area. The helicopters salute nearby Fort Campbell and the 101st Air Assault Unit, while the playful scene gives guests something to take in while they wait for their toasted creations.
For buds new to the brand, Cheba Hut serves more than 30 signature toasted subs inspired by classic cannabis strains and available in Nug (4-inch), Pinner (8-inch) and Blunt (12-inch) sizes. Fan favorites include the White Widow, loaded with chicken, bacon and ranch; the Kali Mist, a spicy club stacked with turkey, bacon and pepper jack; the Dank, a pizza-inspired masterpiece layered with pepperoni, salami, marinara and melted mozzarella; and the Griefo, a veggie-forward favorite piled high with cream cheese, avocado and fresh greens.
The menu also features munchie-approved sides like pretzel nugs and garlic cheese bread, sweet treats including Krispy Bars, Brownies and Cookies, plus the legendary Kool-Aid selection that’s been a go-to remedy for cottonmouth since day one.
Guests can enjoy a curated selection of 20 beers at the Clarksville shop, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The restaurant features a mascot named “Flip the Bird” and branding elements consistent with Cheba Hut's style.
