Mokas Coffee & Eatery Opening First Franchise Location in Olathe, Kansas

September 22, 2026 // Franchising.com // SALINA, Kan. – Mokas Coffee & Eatery, known for its expertly roasted coffee, freshly baked pastries, and made-to-order breakfast and lunch offerings, is celebrating the grand opening of its newest location at 11814 S Fellows St, Olathe, KS, on Wednesday, September 30. The opening marks a milestone for the brand as the first Mokas location to operate under franchisee ownership. The Olathe opening coincides with Mokas' 20th anniversary, celebrated in November 2025.

Grand Opening Celebrations

Mokas scheduled a Friends & Family Day on Sunday, September 27 prior to the official opening, followed by a grand opening on Wednesday, September 30 with a ribbon cutting alongside the local Chamber of Commerce. A prize wheel offering branded merchandise, tote bags, and gift cards was available for guests while supplies lasted. During the first month of operation, Mokas partnered with KidsTLC, donating 10% of all 16 oz specialty drink sales to the local nonprofit.

“I’ve always been driven to create experiences that bring people together,” said Coleman. “Opening our first Mokas in Olathe is the realization of everything my team and I have been working toward. This community has already shown us so much warmth, and we can’t wait to bring that same Midwest hospitality to our guests every single day.”

About the Local Owner

Coleman brings a diverse hospitality and entrepreneurial background to his new venture. He launched his career in professional tennis at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, where he oversaw VIP operations, sponsorships, and hospitality, and later became the youngest professional Tournament Director in tennis. He is also the Founder & President of Midwest Restaurant Group, and also co-founded Sunnyland Kansas Farm, an 80-acre organic farm, and developed a 20,000-square-foot industrial hemp drying facility in Newton, Kansas.

The new 3,100-square-foot cafe is expected to create between 45 and 60 new jobs in the Olathe community, with members of Coleman’s family involved in supporting the business.

Established in 2005, Mokas Coffee & Eatery offers a variety of everyday favorites including in-house roasted coffee, smoothies, energy drinks, and pastries, along with breakfast and lunch wraps, sandwiches, soups, and salads. Each item on the menu is fresh and always prepared in-house. The brand operates several corporate-owned locations in Salina, Colby, and Wichita, Kansas. The first Mokas franchise location is open in Olathe.
