Always Best Care Appoints Jason Shontz as Chief Financial Officer
ROCKLIN, Calif., Sept. 29, 2026 // PRNewswire // -- Always Best Care Senior Services has appointed Jason Shontz, CPA, as Chief Financial Officer. Shontz brings nearly 20 years of financial leadership experience across public companies, private equity-backed businesses, venture-backed organizations and high-growth companies.
Shontz joins Always Best Care from The Joint Corp., a publicly traded chiropractic franchisor with nearly 1,000 locations nationwide, where he served as Vice President of Finance. He led financial planning and analysis, supported investor relations and guided capital allocation decisions. Working closely with company leadership, he also helped shape unit economics, long-range planning and the refranchising of corporate-owned clinics.
For Shontz, the move to Always Best Care also carries a personal connection. His father, who turns 90 this year, relies on non-medical in-home care for both practical support and companionship.
"I have seen firsthand what in-home care means to a family," said Shontz. "For my father, it is not a discretionary service. It is essential to his care, his independence and his quality of life. That personal experience is a major part of what drew me to Always Best Care."
Shontz joins Always Best Care. As Chief Financial Officer, he will help support financial operations, strengthen franchisee profitability and build on the financial tools and insights needed to support continued performance.
"Jason brings the combination of financial discipline, franchise experience and strategic perspective we need as Always Best Care continues to grow," said Jake Brown, President and CEO of Always Best Care. "He understands that strong system growth starts with healthy franchisee economics, and he knows how to build the financial infrastructure that gives both leadership and franchise owners better information to make decisions. We are excited to have him on the executive team."
Shontz said his priorities will center on sustainable franchise growth while keeping franchisee financial health at the forefront.
"We see tremendous opportunity to grow the Always Best Care system, but that growth has to work for our franchise owners," said Shontz. "My focus is making sure they have strong economics, useful financial information and the support they need to make informed decisions as they grow their businesses. When franchisees are healthy and successful, the entire system is in a stronger position to expand."
Before joining The Joint Corp., Shontz held senior finance leadership positions at CoinFlip, Buildout and Wyzant. During his tenure at Wyzant, he helped guide the company through several years of venture-backed growth and contributed to its successful sale in 2021. Earlier in his career, he worked in transaction advisory and financial due diligence at KPMG and Ernst & Young.
Shontz holds a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accounting and finance from the University of Arizona. He is a CPA in Arizona.
