British Swim School Brings Survival-Focused Swim Instruction to Idaho’s Treasure Valley

Local British Swim School owners Brad and Jamie Goodloe have partnered with The College of Idaho in Caldwell to offer families across Idaho’s Treasure Valley access to water-safety skills at the J.A. Albertson Aquatic Center on campus.

British Swim School of Canyon County is now serving families throughout Caldwell, Nampa, and Middleton with a year-round curriculum designed to help students build confidence and develop practical skills for navigating the water safely.

A Family Business Built Around Purpose

For the Goodloes, bringing British Swim School to the Treasure Valley is about much more than opening a business. Parents of four daughters ranging in ages from 8 to 17, the couple wanted to create something that would make a meaningful difference in the community while addressing a need they see firsthand.

“What attracted me was the community aspect of it, the survival aspect of it, and working with children was something that my wife and I are both passionate about,” said Brad Goodloe, co-owner of British Swim School of Canyon County. “This isn’t just learning how to swim. This is learning how to survive in water and how to survive in emergency situations.”

The Goodloes’ commitment to water safety is particularly personal in a region where families regularly encounter canals, rivers, reservoirs, lakes and other waterways. The couple has made survival skills a priority for their own daughters, particularly around boats, docks and open water.

Building Skills at Every Age and Stage

British Swim School’s specialized curriculum for all ages progresses through three primary tiers:

• Water Acclimation - helps students become comfortable in the water and overcome fear.
• Water Survival - introduces foundational floating, breathing and life-saving skills.
• Stroke Development - focuses on developing competitive swim strokes, speed and stamina.

The approach reflects British Swim School’s broader “Every Age. Every Stage.” philosophy, recognizing that water-safety and swimming skills continue to evolve throughout a person’s life.

“We are teaching water survival skills and techniques that children need to learn,” Goodloe said. “British Swim School works with kids on their level, and we don’t give up until they’ve actually accomplished that goal.”

The Goodloes see their partnership with The College of Idaho as an important first step in establishing British Swim School in the region. They plan to expand British Swim School’s reach over time through additional community pool partnerships. However, the long-term vision is not simply business growth but creating a lasting resource for families throughout the Treasure Valley that will save lives.

The opening coincides with British Swim School’s national Jump On In Sweepstakes, running September 8–30, giving two winners (one child under 18 and one adult 18+) a full year of swim lessons plus a British Swim School swim gear prize package.
